View Full Version : Drudge: Hillary: White People Support Me
Hillary Rodham Clinton vowed Wednesday to continue her quest for the Democratic nomination, arguing she would be the stronger nominee because she appeals to a wider coalition of voters — including whites who have not supported Barack Obama in recent contests.
"I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on," she said in an interview with USA TODAY. As evidence, Clinton cited an Associated Press article "that found how Sen. Obama's support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me."
"There's a pattern emerging here," she said.

Much like the Washington Post's "McCain Affair" articles did nothing but help McCain, this does nothing but help Obama. The biggest irony here is that Obama's base started out primarily white. Until Bill Clinton made an ass out of himself in South Carolina Obama couldn't buy a black vote.
Hilarious.

White people don't support Hillary more.
White people who are Republicans who know that Hillary will lose against McCain in November support Hillary more, and who vote simply because the candidate is Republican, not because they are actually a good candidate.
That said, I am a Republican that supports Obama. McCain is an economic retard.

Renian, what makes Obama any better regarding the economy than McCain?

Well for one, reducing the tax dollar sink hole that is Iraq ... and in doing so reducing the oil demand.

Just thought I would add that nothing she said was racist, as some are portraying it now in the media. It was factual.
If Obama did say "I have the support of 85-90% of African-Americans." I would not term it racist, I would defend it as truth.
Hopefully, out of all the mess that is this campaign season, we can someday have a truthful discussion about race that describes all the societal rules fully. Until that time it seems anything said by any race will be taken as "racist" by another race.
Now that is "Hope and Change" I could believe in.

Not so much that as that retarded gas tax holiday. Oh, and the fact that McCain has said himself that he knows nothing (or at least, very little) about Economics.
Granted, ending the Iraq war would be a boost to the economy...in theory. Just because it's costing the government $341 million a day doesn't mean it's hurting the economy. What is hurting it is the amount of that $341 million that we are spending in foreign countries to fuel the war effort. If we are buying guns from American companies, that actually helps the economy due to the government spending multiplier which is elaborated in Keynesian economics. But if we spend it elsewhere, it lowers GDP due to the lowering of net exports and the money outright leaves our economy. Not to mention that the multiplier will affect the other country, not us.

Agreed. I think it's just one of those things that you're better off avoiding as a politician, because it's not some random coincidence that rural, uneducated, white people prefer Hillary. It's definitely not something I'd be touting as a reason why I should get the nomination.
That's just me.

Is it a "random coincidence" that 90% of African Americans are supporting Obama? Should Obama be "touting" that?
If you are somehow stating that everyone that is white that does not support Obama is a racist then also state that everyone that is not white that does not support Clinton is a racist, or even that everyone that is not female that does not support Clinton is a sexist. All three would be overgeneralizations.
Fair is fair, no?
I do not believe either side of the issue is purely race, but there is a racial component, a gender componet and even an age-ist component on the various sides.

/Agreed.
I've even said so in previous threads discussing this very topic in this very presidential race.

Obama had trouble getting black votes until Bill Clinton opened his mouth. All the Clintons' problems are of their own making.
