I was rather suprised to hear that Obama was neighbors with, friends with, sat on a board with and had received political donations from Bill Ayers. Ayers was a radical leftist, and founding member of the Weather Underground, a domestic terrorist organization. Another little piece of the Obama puzzle comes together.

Be it Farakhan, Wright, Ayers or any other radical, Obama will merely "disavow" any positions or statements of his supporters that he now finds inconvenient, and attempt to distance himself from those that helped put him to power.

Is it good to know that Obama can be friendly with "former" domestic terrorists.

Still trying to gain traction with that? Believe it or not, this will help Obama with Dems and Independents. He was just elected senator in November, 2006. Jeffords came before him. Only conservatives think this would hurt any candidate besides McCain.

"Both Obama and Ayers were members of the board of an anti-poverty group, the Woods Fund of Chicago, between 1999 and 2002. In addition, Ayers contributed $200 to Obama's re-election fund to the Illinois State Senate in April 2001, as reported here"

"Senator Obama strongly condemns the violent actions of the Weathermen group, as he does all acts of violence. But he was an eight-year-old child when Ayers and the Weathermen were active, and any attempt to connect Obama with events of almost forty years ago is ridiculous."

re weathermen:

"Europe aint my rope to swing on;
Can't learn a thing from it;
Yet we hang on it?
Gotta get it, gotta get it together then;
Like the muthafuckin' Weathermen!
To expose and close the doors on those who try;
To stangle and mangle the truth;
Cause the circle of hatred continues unless we react;
WE GOTTA TAKE THE POWER BACK!!"

I will gladly accept a liberal senator with liberal contacts over a senator who, in front of a camera, sings, "Bomb, Bomb, Bomb; Bomb, bomb Iran." Sorry dude, but you've got a serious agenda. We get it. You don't like Obama. I just wish ANY discussion we have on these forums would focus on his political views and not who he knows, who he's accepted a donation from, or who sent him a Christmas card in 1997.

If you do not like me posting the truth about Obama, or any other politician, feel free to skip my posts.

Let's look at this differently.

If McCain had taken donations from Terry Nichols or Timothy McVeigh would the story be different?

If Clinton had stayed as a member of a church while her pastor rambled on about "Black men created AIDs to kill the white man" would it be a story?

I understand, in the eyes of his supporters, and in the eyes of most media, Obama can do no wrong.

You're certifiable. Seek help.

Ayers, since the 1970s, has gone on lead a distinguished academic life in Chicago. As such, he's been involved on boards and in the circles Obama has been in. He, like many MANY Americans, has found a hopeful presidential nominee in Obama and donated money to his campaign.

Again, I'll repeat my original point: do you want to discuss his politics or his personal associations?

It may be illegal where you are to give medical/psychological diagnosis without a license.

See an attorney.

Then get a life that doesn't include attempting to debate by attacking. Try answering posed questions. Try posing them as well.

It wouldn't matter if Ayers had won a Nobel Prize or flew to Mars. He helped to found a domestic terrorist organization that bombed civilian and military targets within the United States.

If you looked at the interview he gave to the NY Times you would see how he still feels. To quote him:

''I don't regret setting bombs,'' Bill Ayers said. ''I feel we didn't do enough.''

Again, I'll repeat my original point: do you want to discuss his politics or his personal associations?
Obama's personal associations, whether with Ayers, Farakhan, Wright or others, are an indication of his judgement. A presidential candidate's judgement is a matter of debate.

''I don't regret setting bombs,'' Bill Ayers said. ''I feel we didn't do enough.''

He probably doesn't regret setting bombs because no one was killed by any WUO bombs, other than three members of the WUO who died in the Greenwich Village Explosion. When he says he didn't do enough, he's referring to the fact that the war continued for another decade.

In this own words:

Regrets. I’m often quoted saying that I have “no regrets.” This is not true. For anyone paying attention—and I try to stay wide-awake to the world around me all/ways—life brings misgivings, doubts, uncertainty, loss, regret. I’m sometimes asked if I regret anything I did to oppose the war in Viet Nam, and I say “no, I don’t regret anything I did to try to stop the slaughter of millions of human beings by my own government.” Sometimes I add, “I don’t think I did enough.” This is then elided: he has no regrets for setting bombs and thinks there should be more bombings.

The illegal, murderous, imperial war against Viet Nam was a catastrophe for the Vietnamese, a disaster for Americans, and a world tragedy. Many of us understood this, and many tried to stop the war. Those of us who tried recognize that our efforts were inadequate: the war dragged on for a decade, thousands were slaughtered every week, and we couldn’t stop it. In the end the U.S. military was defeated and the war ended, but we surely didn’t do enough.

Clinton said she was concerned about Obama's association with Ayers, a former member of the Weather Underground who Clinton pointed out said in an interview published on Sept. 11, 2001, that he didn't regret bombing government buildings.

Obama quickly responded that Clinton's husband pardoned one member of Weather Underground and commuted the sentence of another.

Yeah, you have to wonder who's doing her due diligence.

"Yeah, so you're gonna attack his association with Ayers."
"Well, how is Obama going to respond?"
"Well...I would just assume he'll be rocked into silence and we automatically win, right?"
"Right!"
