You're missing the option "I don't think it matters" as "yes" would imply that someone who doesn't vote is a better moderator.

Rarely does the topic of a folder matter to the person who's moderating, so long as they're "interested enough" in the material to actually monitor the threads.

Thankfully in this post HN era our moderators should have to do little else than remove goatses, spambots and monk threads, irregardless of folder topic.

You're over-thinking. It's a binary qualification.

Okay, simplifying it then, I think someone who is apolitical would make a better political thread moderator than someone who is political, as they would be less likely to moderate in a bias'd fashion.

Unless of course you weren't refering to someone who was apolitical ... <damnit, I can't find a gif of when Brian said "turned his life upside down face" and stewie turns his head sideways in an angry manner, that would go perfectly with what I'm saying>

This thread is now about monks....

<<Okay, simplifying it then, I think someone who is apolitical would make a better political thread moderator than someone who is political, as they would be less likely to moderate in a bias'd fashion.>>

But what happens when the root of said person's not voting is because his or her favorite candidate is no longer in the race so he or she is having a fit, as opposed to actually being apolitical?

On that note, wouldn't the most political person make the best political moderator anyway, because they'd actually know wtf was going on?

What? I'm agreeing that these boards for the most part don't need heavy moderating. Live and let live... except for your occasional cup video or goatse pic.

That was what the part you didn't quote addressed... obviously this was a baited topic.

On that note, wouldn't the most political person make the best political moderator anyway, because they'd actually know wtf was going on?Why do you need to know wtf is going on to moderate? Unless you want to moderate points of view, then yeah the moderator would need to know what your point of view meant.

Exactly... again short of Goatse, spam and monks.

What "moderating" has been done lately? Nothing topic related for certain.

I believe the moderation in moderating has been quite moderate for the most part, as of late. And to answer the question, why yes.

Speaking of... there is already a thread about if Ilvane should step down.. and I made my opinion clear:

I also think Ilvane should step down because of her improper use of Sigs... if you're going to put your name at then end of all your posts, put it in a sig so I can disable it if I don't give a crap. ... I'm looking at you too TheEschaton and FinisWolf..

You never really heard anything about most of the moderation that went on. You heard about it when a few select posters felt they were being oppressed.

Yep. The posters who were being moderated were the ones who cried the most. Thats just how it works.

You're right, the forum moderators are blackop experts and have been shuffling mouthy posters off this mortal coil if they so much as think about speaking against the administration.

If you want me to say "nothing topic related with a 99.9% certainty because you can never be 100% certain about anything what with an infinite universe the only thing you can be certain about is uncertainty" well... then consider my comment amended.

It means running people out of town when they act worse than the idiot they're known to be.

Sound like something you're familiar with?
