WASHINGTON - Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton said Sunday she might be willing to garnish the wages of workers who refuse to buy health insurance to achieve coverage for all Americans.

The New York senator has criticized presidential rival Barack Obama for pushing a health plan that would not require universal coverage. Clinton has not always specified the enforcement measures she would embrace, but when pressed on ABC's "This Week," she said: "I think there are a number of mechanisms" that are possible, including "going after people's wages, automatic enrollment."

Clinton said such measures would apply only to workers who can afford health coverage but refuse to buy it, which puts undue pressure on hospitals and emergency rooms. With her proposals for subsidies, she said, "it will be affordable for everyone."

wow.

I'm all for not abusing our indigent availability of healthcare but damn, garnishment of wages for those who choose not to enroll?

Isnt that a little extreme?

I'm all for garnishment of wages for those found abusing or getting indigent healthcare if they can be found able to pay. Case in point: Sean2 in his glass in toe thread.

But I dont think a blanket penalty for lack of participation is the answer. I'm all for the freedom to choose and living with the decision by either not getting access when healthcare is needed of paying for it like everyone else.

Garnishment for rednecks.

Well that's why I felt that Obama's plan was a better one than Hillary's. Even though the same in nature, only Hillary's was required and forced, rather than Obama's which is available for everyone however elective and not required.

Uhm that thread's sole purpose was advice on how to AVOID any kind of treatment other than my own... so case in point I don't get what you're saying.

"going after people's wages"

::scream:: ::run in fear::

Why is the democratic race so close? I'd like to see a female president one day to, but my gawd, Hillary Clinton?????

Name recognition fucked us with George W. and possibly now with HRC.

we need less sheep, and more shepards!

It took a Clinton to clean up after the first Bush, it might take another Clinton to clean up after the second.

Lol ... as much as I despise either ... GHB was only in for a single term ... and he was pretty lame duck to do much damage.

GWB has been in for two terms, and there's a mess to clean up for sure. Outside of some sexist remark of needing a woman to do the work ... I'd say that's a pretty invalid statement.

We don't need a president with a history of pay offs, a person that can't accept responsibility for her own actions, and a president who has based a bulk of their experience on being the first lady.

Well at least GW cleaned up Bill's mess.

If by cleaned up his mess you mean steam cleaning the oval office was about the extent of required cleaning ... I guess you're right.

You act like that wasn't a feat in and of itself. Come on, you have experience with housekeeping; you know hard it is to get cum stains out of tafetta.

Willy let terrorists run wild resulting in 9/11 among other "messes". GW was elected by the masses to fix that. And he did.

Are cum stains really that hard to get out? I always aim for the face or belly button so I wouldn't know.

Just using your admission of selectively not covering yourself for healthcare and facing the prospect of a high medical bill for an injury and paying out of pocket or taking advantage of the indigent healthcare system already available for those who actually need it. Think of it as an example given.

I know the purpose of your toe thread wasnt to highlight the fact that you do not carry insurance on yourself intentionally but on how to remove a sliver of glass from your big toe. ;)

I have experience in every facet of my business. After all, what better way to operate than having a full understanding of what everyone in you employ has to deal with.

I'm trying to decide if you're serious or delusional.

The part that is off base is the "taking advantage of the indigent healthcare system" part.

Other than an illegal alien sarcasm comment that's completely in right field.

I chose not to have health insurance. My family has health insurance. I have life insurance. That's the end all be all really.

For myself last year I spent $600 to have a tooth extraction. I spent about $2000 on fucking strep throat. I'm not seeing the taking advantage of indigent healthcare part.

Either something is going to kill me or it's something I can take care of myself. That's how I roll.

No insurance. 1k was an exaggeration but it would easily hit the $500.

Well it's not hurting but it has turned black inside. Must be the dried blood. No infection. I'll give it a couple days then get it taken care of if I have to. I'll just hit the ER and tell them my name is Pancho Villa or something.

I must have misread the sarcasm.

Or maybe I fell off into the sarchasm.

C'mon Gan, I know he didn't put it in italics or anything, but since it was Sean2, you had to know he was being sarcastic.
