In the wake of flawed intelligence analysis that has hindered our foreign policy and damaged our reputation abroad, Congress may finally examine the intelligence gathering and analysis processes used by our national intelligence community.

Senator Ensign is calling (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/12/06/AR2007120602457.html) for Congress to establish a commission that will review the underlying assumptions of the recent National Intelligence Estimate on Iran, which was obviously written by bitter and uninformed bureaucrats. Releasing that NIE shortly before the President's Middle Eastern diplomatic mission embarrassed the entire country.

Iran is trying to develop the technology that will allow it to produce nuclear weapons, and the intelligence community is burying that fact to embarrass the President.

Maybe they should look at themselves first, that's their main intelligence problem.
