An interesting question indeed....I don't think it really is broken down by who an individual candidate would pick, but what themes they are looking for.
I think Hillary will be looking for a little color, and will pick Bill Richardson.
Obama would probably pick Edwards, frankly....or, maybe, an elderly statesman type to counteract his "lack of experience". Maybe a Biden, although Biden is more of a Sec. of State type.
Edwards....hell, I have no idea.
On the GOP side, from a strategic point of view, I think almost anyone who wins the nomination who isn't Huckabee has to pick Huckabee. The evangelical voters have made it clear in IA they can turn an election to a relative unknown at a moment's notice, and I think they will vote third party if there is no ticket which represents their evangelical views.

I'm hoping some televangelical skeleton ambushes Huckabee in the upcoming months.
I'm tired of having my political infected by evangelicalitis.

DNC
Who would Clinton choose? Tom Vilsack or Richardson.
Who would Obama choose? I'd tell him to pick Jim Webb. But I doubt that'll happen...hmm, again, possibly Richardson.
Who would Edwards choose? I seriously have no idea.
RNC
Who would Romney choose? Kay Bailey Hutchinson
Who would Huckabee choose? Also, no idea.
Who would McCain choose? Joe Lieberman. This is a dead on lock.

I'm not sure Edwards would take it. That's the only reason I didn't put him down.

Outside of McCain/Lieberman ... I think it's far too early to tell.
Though I wouldn't be shocked if we saw an attempt at the Clinton/Clinton ticket.

I really need to watch 24.
They could just change the title of the office during his term... "Whilst a normal presidental veto can be overturned by the house if enough votes are passed, a chuck norris veto cannot be overturned, or even attempted to be overturned without severe loss of life". "There is no need for Chuck Norris and Vice Chuck Norris to be in seperate locations, because the thought of something endangering the life of Chuck Norris is laughable (but don't make Chuck Norris laugh, your delicate body couldn't survive the sound)".
Huckabee chooses Chuck Norris!!!
OF COURSE!
Seems that Huckabee promised Stephen Colbert a spot as his running mate earlier on in the campaign.
Huckabee and Colbert?

<<although Biden is more of a Sec. of State type.>>
He'd be so pissed if you said that to him.
MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina (CNN) — What were they talking about?
Hillary Clinton and John Edwards met privately backstage following a very contentious Democratic presidential debate in this coastal city, sources with both campaigns confirm to CNN.
The meeting took place in the Edwards campaign green room.
One of the sources said the meeting happened by chance and the conversation consisted of light chatter. The source added that Clinton did jokingly take a jab at Edwards about his beating up on her during the debate. In fact, the real fireworks were between Clinton and Barack Obama.
An Edwards source noted that it was not surprising the two senators met backstage.
"That happens back there,” said the source, who said it has happened “more often” with Obama. “It’s tight quarters – we’re all on top of each other.”
The question is — with only two weeks before Super Tuesday — what else was discussed?

Edwards is in a pretty powerful seat (kingmaker) for one not in the lead for the nomination.
Survivor! Washington DC.
Who will form the alliance that will earn them the nomination?

Bill Clinton or a "sudden peacemaking with Obama" would be great Hillary choices. She'll probably be dumb and choose Edwards.

Come on, is Bill Clinton really the kind of guy to do a legalese end run around the Constitution?
I guess that does depend on what my definition of "do" is.

I don't think I need to even answer that one.
Taft is an example of similar occurring before.
Latrinsorm
01-22-2008, 12:26 PM
Uhh, no. Taft only served one term and neither was nor ran for the Vice Presidency. Taft didn't do anything remotely similar to the proposed maneuver, and even if he had the 22nd Amendment wasn't around back then.

The Supreme Court is a branch of government.
You said it yourself...I don't think Bill Clinton is above semantics.
Latrinsorm
01-22-2008, 12:36 PM
Forbidding a former President from being in the Supreme Court wasn't (and isn't) even hinted at in the Constitution. As such, "Taft didn't do anything remotely similar".
If former President Clinton wanted to campaign for the Supreme Court or a seat in Congress, he has my blessing.
Warriorbird

Well...since we're playing strict constructionist...
...there's nothing to stop former Presidents from being VPs. The 22nd applies to electing Presidents.
Latrinsorm
01-22-2008, 01:35 PM
Because "hints at" can definitely be interpreted as "strict constructionist"!!!!!
