I'm surprised with all the Osama talk around here nobody touched on this yet.
Apparently it doesn't stop at "flag pins".

During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. — United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171

It's not the action of holding your hand over your heart that is important, it's how you feel on the inside, poor Mr. Obama is just misunderstood :/

I stand, remove my cap ( if I'm wearing it ), place my hand over my heart and face the TV if the national anthem is being played. I guess some people don't take it as seriously as others.

Typical liberal.. except you forgot the part you post "it's his right to do it because we have free speech."
PS - If a Republican pulled this shit, I would come down even harder on them.

I find it hilarious how it has caught the Republican biased journalism/conservative blog world by storm.
Illustrative too.
I'm proud though...no suggestions I don't hold my hand over my heart for the national anthem yet...or suggestions that I hate America.

I find it hilarious how you've glossed over all my criticisms of Hillary or all that I said about Kerry. You've also missed me bagging on the entire local Democratic Party down here. I'm sure you'd have appreciated it. How many Republicans have you criticized?
I remember you disagreeing with Bush...once.
So...are we going to see any issue based attacks? Ever?

How stupid of you to assume the only Republican I've ever criticised is Bush.. one time. There's a search function on these forums.. feel free to be less ignorant. I bash all people, regardless of their political party.
I find an individual who is running for the office of President of the United States of America, who will not stand for the pledge properly or wear a flag pin a very legitimate issue. The Flag is a symbol of this country.. why would he not honor it? It's a disturbing pattern of behavior.
But feel free to post his very VERY liberal voting record and we can hit each one.

I'm pretty distressed by both Democratic candidates, Sean2. Hillary's way too much of a divider and Obama only seems to grow a pair when he's doing something stupid.
I wish Hillary'd stepped out of the race long ago and I wish Obama would've risen to the challenge rather than falling from it. If Giuliani hadn't made so many stupid statements of late (to please the idiot wing of the Republican Party...I'd vote for him if the rest of the party wasn't an attachment) I'd consider supporting him. His economic and social views aren't too far apart from mine. I predict that I'll vote for Hillary, she'll lose, and I'll feel bad about it.
I wish there was a viable alternative on the Democratic side...but I certainly dislike Edwards more than Obama and I think he's less skilled than Hillary. I wish Mark Warner or Mike Easley were running for President. Someone like that I could support.

The Obama campaign has dismissed as "ridiculous" the suggestion that Obama was making a "statement," noting that "[s]ometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't" place his hand over his heart during the national anthem.

I've already thrown my hat in the Hillary ring. She's the only one who can handle the Republican onslaught in the general election cycle, though she'll probably have the most heavy artillery lobbed at her.
And her politics/policies happen to be the most intelligent/well-formulated of any candidate. Edwards only has an idea couched in nice words, and the rest are too big a long shot in terms of fighting the GOP. Too bad Barack couldn't have made it with his real empathy.

I don't like Hillary at all...but she'll win the nomination. If the Republicans are too stupid to nominate Giuliani she may very well win the Presidency. This may even get her a second term (by which time we'll have totally lost Congress due to her fuckery). After that, we'll have another 4-8 years with a Republican President AND a Republican Congress to fuck up the country. If we're not all dead or invaded by China at that point then we might have a Democrat again.

PFFFTT China. They're too busy shopping at Wal-mart or working in the sweatshops for Wal-mart to do anything. Even if they did we have the Bloods and the Crypts.

You mean the 7 hours this was plastered on Clinton's campaign page before they nuked it realizing that it was not only complete bullshit, but likely to be more damaging to her campaign as a whole?

MS-13 and the Aztlan movement are far more dangerous than the Bloods or Crips.
See...the Bloods and the Crips benefit from the societal order continuing to a certain degree how it is. They don't.
I don't see any politician doing anything about them from either party. The Democrats don't want to be racist and the Republicans are too much in the pocket of Walmart and monopolistic agribusiness.
