View Full Version : Sen. Reid blames the wildfires on global warming
“One reason why we have the fires in California is global warming,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters Tuesday, stressing the need to pass the Democrats’ comprehensive energy package.
Moments later, when asked by a reporter if he really believed global warming caused the fires, he appeared to back away from his comments, saying there are many factors that contributed to the disaster.

I have never seen and heard about such strange weather patterns across the U.S. as a whole in one year.
It would not surprise me if a super un-abundance of rainwater paired with extremely sudden winds have contributed to this.
Wherein lie the markings of human accountability are a damn guess at best though, IMHO.

Yea.. because you've been on a billion plus year old planet a total of what.. 25 years? You may have thought about the weather for 15 of them at the most?
I think that sample size is plenty to account for it... well, if you don't look at the other billion+ years.

Actually, it's funny. Everyone wants to blame the natural shift of weather patterns on global warming.
If you are so worried about accountability...start accounting for your own actions.
Get rid of your car, ride a damn bike, use public transportation.
Or STFU.

Yeah... guys you jumped on stanley's posts without reading his last sentence it seems... He wasn't blaming humans at all, he was saying the drought/wind are the cause, and damned if he knew the cause of the drought/wind.
As for his comments about "strange weather" he in no way said it was unique/human caused... just that he'd never seen it. It would be like if I were to say I've never been in an earthquake... I'm not saying they don't exist, I've just never been in one.

There are those whom can take heat and those whom can't. If fear of some sorta PC gangup influenced my posts* I don't think I could live with myself.

Funny. The taxi driver that took me to the airport this morning told me about this story and I'll say the same thing here that I said to him.
Where is the controversy? He said, "One reason" and then "backed off" that to say there were many contributing factors.
One reason Gan is such an idiot is his conservative bias. It's only one of many contributing factors.

It's a wildfire now, likely it was a campfire in the beginning ... or a terrorist.

Most news reports are insinuating they're caused by high winds knocking down power lines causing sparks to ignite the dry vegitation.

I forgot my italics .... in either case the point was global warming (or terrorism) being blamed is pretty asinine.

In a pre-emptive retalitory post b/c I'll be out of the country starting in about 45 minutes, Gan's conservative bias is evidenced by his failure to post that the opportunistic political-whore Rudy Guiliani all of a sudden decides to back what has, over the last 4 years, become America's baseball team (outside of the Bronx), the Boston Red Sox.
It's a pathetic ploy to earn national brownie points but I see through the ruse. It's like a chameleon and a snake inter-bred to create Rudy Guiliani. He's a slithering, sleezy, sex-crazed, politcal sleezeball without the conscience of a true sports fan. It'd be the equivalent of Dickhead (aka Richardcranium) all of a sudden singing the praise of UoM or OSU. No true sports fan is that wishy-washy, unless you're an opportunistic politician pandering for votes. Aka, Rudy Guiliani.

He at least had a bit of an explanation, saying that he was rooting for the Sox in the Series because they are the AL team...
...but they're still the Red Sox. If he was a real Yankee fan I'd expect him to root for the Rockies if anyone.

Eh... I'm a fan of the northeast... I'm a Yankee fan but if the Yankees are out of it I'm sort of a Red Sox fan... up to the point of the world series, I will NOT root for them to win the world series.

You're supposed to root league no matter how many children Pedro Martinez has.
Maybe Giuliani can finally buy that fitted pink BoSox cap and rock it alongside 12 million other merchandise band-wagoners who sit around in their own territory rooting for the Red Sox, now, against their own home teams. Anyway: Trendy ex-mayoral fashion sellout biotch to the second power of forever.

SB, that you don't know the man law makes me a bit sad. You root league unless:
A) The team representing your league beat you in the playoffs. Controversial, I know, some people go the exact opposite, saying you should root for that team more, because that means you lost to the best. I say it depends on the closeness of the game/series and how much they cheated. For example, when the Titans went to the Superbowl in the 99-00 season, I could not cheer for them being an AFC person, because THEY CHEATED AND FORWARD PASSED THE BALL FOR THE LAST PLAY AGAINST THE BILLS in the wild card game.
or
B) The team representing your league are YOUR HATED ARCH RIVALS.

Reid is an idiot who is just trying to get an Energy bill passed with tons of extra money to fight global warming. He would say everything bad is caused by global warming to get his way.
It was a dumb statement from a dumb man. Let's just hope the people of Nevada don't remain dumb and re-elect him in '10.
