An elementary school has banned tag on its playground after some children complained they were harassed or chased against their will.

"It causes a lot of conflict on the playground," said Cindy Fesgen, assistant principal of the Discovery Canyon Campus school.

Running games are still allowed as long as students don't chase each other, she said.

Fesgen said two parents complained to her about the ban but most parents and children didn't object.

In 2005, two elementary schools in the nearby Falcon School District did away with tag and similar games in favor of alternatives with less physical contact. School officials said the move encouraged more students to play games and helped reduce playground squabbles.

I was poke in the shoulder today!!

"That's horrible!! I'm going to call the Principal right now!!"

(Mom complains about her kid's personal space being violated ... denying her son the capacity to assert himself against his peers)

I was scowled at on the playground today?!?

"That's horrible!! I'm going to call the Principal right now!!"

Rarely will I agree with the product of "young republican" grooming ... but ya.

We're raising a society of pansies.

If one of my kids came home complaining about being chased on the playground when she didn't want to be chased, I would have asked her why she ran then.

It's one thing if kids are getting bullied daily, it's another if they're "forced" into playing things they don't want to play.

Personally I think it's more of an issue of school administrators being over zealous in legally protecting their ass' and/or just wanting to make their jobs easier by banning everything that could cause a complaint.
