The Northern Alliance who we put in to replace the Taliban? Basically a bunch of drug dealers. Since the time we put them in control Afghanistan's heroin production has pretty much tripled. They've just released the figures for the last year or so and it is up another 30%. There's some suggestion that Afghani drug profits are actually fueling the insurgency...Afghani drug profits that weren't indeed that intense under the Taliban because their penalty for growing was a bullet to the head.
