I've had a few portraits done by Lleoni before she left GS and stopped working on them, but honestly I don't think they are too much like what I envision Jolena as. I've been searching for someone to do a portrait of her (or pencil sketching) for a while now but to no avail. Everyone I talk to either doesn't do comissions anymore, is outrageously expensive (200-400 dollar range) or doesn't play GS anymore so they won't do GS characters. LE SIGH.

I still hold faith though dangit, one day I'll find someone who'll do the danged picture for me at a reasonable price.

I do Gemstone Portraits, and I do them either for Art Trades (like I did with Dex) or for in-game silver. My site is not up and running yet or else it'd be listed for Gemstone comissions.

An example of my style is my picture of Adriata.. I can't do cartoony, but I think I'm pretty good with realism.

If anyone*is* interested in getting some art at a reasonable price (500k - 2 mil in game, which comes out to between 5 and 30 dollars IRL) then just letme know via PM or email or AIM.

Anyway, this is how I picture Lisera, except the picture doesn't have the right color hair and eyes. Spot on with features and bearing, however. The spiderweb-like arrangement isn't part of her normal features, but I did use it to make her mask for the Lumnea ball this past June.

Really the difference between something looking cartoony or realistic is the style of coloring. I do mine by a sketch first and then outlining and then coloring and highlighting. So yeah, all by hand. <3 my Tablet.

It's a technique called Digital Painting, basically it's the same idea as regular painting but usually using a tablet or, with a very skilled artist, a mouse.\

Well, Narcissiia is pretty but she's not intended to be in a knock-out sort of way.. more of an ethereal, androgynous sort of way. She has pretty much no curves-- no breasts, no hips, no ass.

My pirate lass is sposed to be more of a plain jane but I have not attempted a picture of her.. I don't think I've ever actually had a character that was knock out gorgeous, they just all usually had some sort of definining feature.

No joke, I found this picture one night while browsing an Art site like Deviant and found this picture, when I saw it, I already had Hadya...It looked a lot like how I pictured her. The name of the painting is called Naga Dance.

Rinika's did these of Whistfylle in 2000-2001. She did quite a few of them, since Whistfylle is her adoptive mother, unfortunately I can only find these two. One's just a quick study, but the other one portrays her pretty accurately.

HI! If you're referring to a portrait done by Yoiko, please read the following.

I have to say that I'm upset at your comment.

I put many, many hours of work into my hand-drawn portraits and have never used a "template". All of my portraits at the time were in anime style, there was no surprise in that.

I *always* made sure the people I drew for were happy with a sketch before I finalized it with color. Nothing was relayed to me that you were not satisfied or wanted otherwise. Hence my surprised and shocked reaction right now. If you weren't satisfied, you should have told me and I would have fixed what you didn't like.

I draw more for fun than for profit, and normally charged around 150k-300k silvers for my work then; in some rare cases I charged 1 million if the project was very detailed or for free cause I felt like it. I'm sorry that you weren't happy with it, but I don't think it is fair of you to just dismiss it as an "anime template" ripoff.

For that you could basically find your own 'real artist', and comission something. Or get a handful of lesser ones from someone else. Hell, if I was interested in making a portrait for my characters, Id just goto a local college and ask the art department about it. Maybe get the teacher to do it, or ask the students, or maybe try and convince the teacher to make a contest of which student could come closest to matching a 'worded description'... i dunno

Your response is non-sequitur, Jolena. She has stated twice that she would go out of her way to make things right if a client ever had an issue. If she didn't want wings, one would assume the client would say so, and Jane wouldn't have included them in the finished product. Seems pretty simple to me.

Jane is a close friend of mine, and mentioned this thread to me but asked me not to post.. I'm posting anyway because I know what a great artist she is, and that she always went WAY out of her way to make sure people were happy with what they got. I'm talking about obsessively trying to make them happy.. she spent literally days on these portraits, and although it may just look like some cookie-cutter anime to some of you, I know that they were meticulously drawn by hand with a lot of care and love.

Anime obviously isn't a style for everyone, but one look at her sample drawings should leave a potential customer with little doubt about what kind of art they would get. She charged a scant 150k or so most of the time for these portraits.. pretty much nothing (literally $2.25 if you're talking about E-bayed silvers). I don't understand how anyone can be upset about paying that little and getting a fully customized portrait from a skilled artist.

They are translucent, but they are there. I had to look at it a few times to make sure I didn't mistake shading for wings, actually. There are four pieces - one at the top and bottom of her form on either side.

Granted it was three years ago, and too many specifics on the transaction I won't remember. I just know I ended up with a naked picture of Satira with green nail polish and wings.

You seem like you're someone with the best intentions, and if it wasn't a template, then it wasn't a template. I apologize for saying otherwise. The fact that I wasn't happy with the picture applied to the thread, but I specifically left out the name of the artist for a reason. I wasn't trying to start anything.

Pretty good, though I would have angle the falchion up a few degrees to fit the hand a little better and give it a more natural appearance. IMO the shield could use a little more definition, too.

Just did a quick sketch of Zuie. I kinda messed up with the hair and hood thing, but oh well.

Got her new robe done, "a slim black velvet hooded robe dangling a multitude of chains down the back." The one chain going down her robe is there to hold all the other chains on the back. Woo woo.
