WASHINGTON - Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., said Tuesday his recent trip to the Guantanamo Bay detainee camp showed excellent prison conditions, including "24/7 medical care - better than many Americans" get.

Ok, seriously, WTF? Why are these people getting better health care than many Americans? Lets set aside the fact that they can be held indefinitely, tortured, and not face any court with any evidence of their wrong doing for a moment...

Lets take the example that we DO have someone in there who is guilty of actively attacking the citizens of our country... Apparently, Bill Frist is ok with the fact that they get better treatment than some of our own citizens, even lauds it. Whose helping the terrorists now?

I don't have a problem with them getting healthcare. As of now, none of the detainees have been convicted of anything. Therefore, they're not even Terrorists by my standards. Maybe suspected terrorists, but welcome to America, a land where it's INNOCENT until PROVEN guilty.

I don't agree with torture because a) the moral standard is lowered by the US, who is supposedly on moral high ground on everything and b) the information isn't neccesarily accurate. I'd admit to anything if my toenails were being pulled out too, or if I wasn't allowed to sleep for days on end. So yeah, I bitched about the torture and the secret camps. The healthcare is fine too-- they're not convicted criminals therefore they deserve access to all of the healthcare they'd otherwise have access too (even if they couldn't afford it, but they'd have the CHANCE to afford it) if they weren't detained. It's humane, that's it.

I hardly feel we're getting jipped. I mean they're living in cells and being interrogated all the time, on some shithole of a base on an island.

Nothing at all in my post was ground breaking and unheard of. The justice system does work as innocent until proven guilty, at least that's how it was intended, and I believe in everybody's right to a fair trial. If you don't, that's your problem not mine.
