Today I picked up a copy of the Toronto Sun (Toronto's tabloid answer to the New York Post). It tends to be rather working man's right wing but in the past it has had some good columnists like Eric Margolis, Peter Worthington, Michael Coren. I may disagree with them but they usually write a decent column. Today I read a column by Rachel Marsden who I wasn't familiar with, her column was so far over the top for a print media journalist that I took some time to research her. She has been a guest on the Bill O'Reilly show and she will be interviewing Ann Coulter soon.

Rachel has been accused of stalking 4 times, 3 times by men and once by a woman. Rachel also falsely accused a swim coach in University of raping her, yet she sent him suggestive emails a month after the accusation.

As a conservative I am shocked that the right is so bereft of political pundits. Why is this?

Yeah Bush is deploying the National Guard to the Canadian border. Tons of Canadians are clawing to move south to lose their civil liberties and their health care.

Actually, more people have emigrated from the US to Canada since Bush has been in office more than any other US President's term.

Also, I've never heard of this girl but Ann Coulter and Bill O'Reilly are both nut jobs. Mostly though, it's just Ann Coulter (who's critique of the Clinton Administration included Chelsea Clinton's style of hair, clothing, and her grace [or lack thereof] when she was a teen).

I don't have a problem with political commentators who sit on one side of the fence. I do have a problem when they go about it like total idiots. There are plenty of liberal and conservative idiots, but then, I can't pass up a chance to have a go at Ms. Coulter.

BUSH R TAKING AWAY UR CIVIL LIBRITIES! BUSH R EVIL!

LOL.

This shit never gets old making fun of. I'm STILL WAITING for SOMEONE here to tell me how Bush took away any civil liberty from them. I'm STILL seeing no one step up and describe it.

Source please?

I'm having trouble finding credible data to back this claim up.

Thx.

Ann Coulter comes close to making me be ashamed to be female. I'm not liberal on a lot of issues, but she needs to STFU and do it quick. And I agree with Narccissiia, critiquing a 13 year old is just out of line. How many of you had to go through your most akward period of life under the scrutiny of international media? Geez.

I found some... Lets look at the numbers by year.

Canadian immigration statistics by source: United States. Numbers reflect individual units, not multiples of.

Clinton administration years:

1992 - 5891
1993 - 6450
1994 - 5128
1995 - 5195
1996 - 5869 (total to date vs. Bush admin: 28533) (avg. per year to date vs. Bush admin: 5706)
1997 - 5028
1998 - 4773
1999 - 5528 (total over term: 43862) (avg per year: 5482.75)Bush administration years:

2000 - 5809
2001 - 5894
2002 - 5293
2003 - 5992
2004 - 7494 (total to date: 30482) (avg. per year: 6096.6)
2005 - n/a
2006 - n/a
2007 - n/a
2008 - n/aStd. Dev. : +/- 21 from year to year as reported.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pub/index-2.html#statistics

Interestingly enough, the trend seems to be higher during the Bush admin years, especially with the spike in 2004. However, the number is not significant enough to credit the performance of the current administration as the cause for the increase, in my opinion. I wonder how this combined with a year by year comparison of the Canadian/US Currency exchange rate would look, and if that could be attributed to the recent influx.

Interesting indeed.

Are those in hundreds or just people, Ganalon?

Units are actual people, not multiples thereof if I read the data correct.

I have been over this one with you time and time again but you seem to refuse to see the obvious. The Patriot Act has turned back civil rights 100's of year. It undoes rights that were set out in the Writ of Habeas Corpus in 1305 and the Magna Carta of 1215.

Your big argument is because no one here has been arrested under the Patriot Act civil liberties aren't in jeopardy. If someone here had been arrested under the Patriot Act they wouldn't have internet access to tell you about it.

It is like arguing that crime has become worse in a given city and the statistics bear it out, but you refuse to see it because no you know can testify to the fact they were murdered.

I am sure Rachel Marsden would give you shot, you may have a hard time getting rid of her. You know the old saying "you don't pay a hooker for sex, you pay her to leave"
