View Full Version : Whacko Viewpoints: Whose is the Craziest?

Back
11-11-2005, 08:33 PM
I read so many crazy things in the news. Well, they seem crazy to me... others seem to think its normal. Many of you I am certain have come across an article of some Cult-of-Personality spewing out wacked out shit.

So this is a topic to post examples of totally out-there viewpoints, why you think they are, and for others to agree or disagree.

This is in the politics folder because most of the twisted stuff I find relates in some way to the current political climate. Extreme idiotic viewpoints need not be political in nature to post here, like if some band member said some crazy shit about another band or whatever. Quote your friends!

And don’t think this topic is only about my examples which will follow. Please bring any and all outrageously insane, mind-numbingly inane or cruelly banal viewpoints that make your ears bleed.

Ok, I’ll start. I have a couple. First, Bill O’Reily said this recently about voters (the kind of people who actually enjoy a good democracy) in San Francisco who had military recruiting banned from public schools...

If you want to ban military recruiting, fine. But I’m not going to give you another nickel of federal money. If I'm the president of the United States, I walk right into Union Square, I set up my little presidential podium and I say, ‘Listen, citizens of San Francisco, if you vote against military recruiting, you're not going to get another nickel in federal funds.’

If Al Qaeda comes in here and blows you up, we're not going to do anything about it. We're going to say, ‘look, every other place in America is off limits to you, except San Francisco. You want to blow up the Coit Tower? Go ahead. Source (http://cbs5.com/topstories/local_story_315014627.html)

Wow. He sure is making quite a bit of noise over a minor issue. Talk about totalitarianism... apparently democracy isn’t good enough for Bill. He need to reprimand voters on their majority choice. Not that he doesn't have the right to call someone an idiot, but annexation and calling people to blow up Colt Tower? He should be arrested.

My other on is another of my favorite whack jobs. Pat Robertson the Evangelist. Here is what he had to say about Pennsylvanians voting out an entire school board for having promoted “intelligent design.”

I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: if there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God, you just rejected Him from your city.

And don't wonder why He hasn't helped you when problems begin, if they begin. I'm not saying they will, but if they do, just remember, you just voted God out of your city. And if that's the case, don't ask for His help because he might not be there. Source (http://edition.cnn.com/2005/US/11/10/religion.robertson.reut/index.html?section=cnn_latest)

Wooooo... I’ll bet the evil godless Pennsylvanian’s are shaking. The scariest part of this one is that he probably sincerely believes this. He speaks and how many thousands of people just accept it as gospel? Real Christian of you, Pat, what a guy.

I have to say (which I'm sure doesn't shock you) that I agree with good ole Bill.

Pat Robertson, much like any other religious 'celebrity', is a complete jackass on the other hand. Threatening people with the wrath of God, that's pretty fucking idiotic.

To date this year, the most idiotic thing I've seen or heard about was Kanye West's little tirade during Hurricane Katrina. I think he set racial harmony back a few years with his drivel.

Being from good ole PA, I had to say, I was applauding what happened in Dover. If you read more into it, the people running as democrats were actually moderate republicans who couldn't get on the republican ticket for their area for NOT supporting intelligent design/creationism/whatever they're trying to pass it off as now. Way to separate politics and religion there, but I see it worked out in the end.

Yeah, I saw the video of Kayne. He looked really agitated and nervous while Mike Myers just rolls with it. Kayne’s CD is top of the charts right now. I agree that what he said was pretty over the top. Especially considering that Bush really had nothing to do with the bad response unless appointing an idiot to FEMA counts.

Kayne’s statement was too focused on Bush. Looking back now, its pretty obvious there was some racial discrimination (fear) going on just after the storm. The Media are partly to blame for that. And who owns the Media? The Man.

Racism is ignorance. Don’t bother arguing that one with me because I already pin-pointed it through a Socratic dialogue with my peers.

But you can’t seriously agree with inviting people to bomb a city just because they don’t want military recruiters on public school campuses? Whats the big deal? Everyone knows where to find the services if they want to join? Parents can help if they want too. And the people, the majority of a democracy, the bastion of all that is supposedly good in this world, voted against it.

Of course I don't agree with the bombing of a city, and I'm sure neither does O'Reilly. He uses shock value to get his point across.

If colleges can push their flyers in schools, why can't the Armed Forces? Both are noble futures for exiting seniors, and the kids who just AREN'T college material are better off joining the Army (puke) than working at Wal-mart after they graduate. Sure, they can go to a recruiters office, but you are giving the youth too much credit these days.

As for Kanye, he is a prime example of abusing the status of a celebrity. I like the singers and actors that I like because they perform their job well, not because they have an opinion on everything in the world and feel the need to use the spotlight to get it across. Shut up and sing. Unless you're Ted Nugent, then by all means... :)

I do agree that racism is ignorance. What I also see, however, is a trend of black americans who refuse to take responsibility for their youth and their own lot in life, and play the blame game. You have intelligent people like Bill Cosby speaking out, saying that things need to change, and he is labeled a traitor to his race. If you are going to point blame for what happened in New Orleans, it's a two way street. Same with what happened in Ohio. Since when did rioting become an accepted response to something we don't like?

Oh shit you are talking sense. Well a few flaws in your argument that I see...

You speak of Kayne’s, and any entertainer’s, irresponsibility in speaking out politically. Yet you grant O’Reily a pass.

You say I am giving the youth too much credit just after saying kids who AREN’T college material are better off in the Army (puke) than at Wal-Mart. (Wal-Mart is another issue entirely)

Rioting is what founded America.

The things you point out that I DO agree with are...

O’Reily is a ratings whore. Can’t blame a man for wanting a fat check.

Service in the military can be a noble future.

Racism is a two way street.

Michael Savage always wins this.

Just count how many times a night he says "IM DONE WITH THIS. I HATE POLITICS. I REFUSE TO TALK ANYMORE. IM DONE."

And umm just look....at what he does...for a living... (politic radio talk show host).

Night after night.

I grant O'Reilly a "pass" because, it's his job. He gets paid for political commentary. An entertainer's job is to entertain. You don't see O'Reilly trying to sing or dance do you?

Saying that rioting founded America is like saying that slavery built the great transportation system of America. What worked back then doesn't work now, obviously.

Last I checked, O’Reily may not sing or dance, but he is no policy maker.

As Blazing said.. O'Reily's job is to analize the political process and climate and to report his opinions on his entertainment show. That is his primary responsibility on Fox. That's why they pay him.

As far as San Fran goes.. I actually agree with Bill for the most part. San Fran wants to stop armed forces recruiting? What the fuck? I am certain that the first major earthquake in the city and they will be BEGGING BEGGING BEGGING for the armed forces to come help them out and BITCH BITCH BITCH if it's a moment later than what they expected.

If this retarded measure passes, I would hope that any government business in that area would be relocated, any bases be closed and any income the city receives as a result of any Federal Government agency be curtailed as much as possible.

Please, O’Reily is nothing more than entertainment. Better yet, h8ertainment.

I don’t know what the big deal is. You make it sound like they banned recruiting altogether. Hey, chicken little, they only had it banned from public school property.

O'Reilly is a wackjob but yes it is his job. His popularity is in part to his more notorious comments. I wouldn't give him a pass but I expect it from him.

Kanye West, Mr. Illiterate, Mr. No Talent here I take umbrage. I am no supporter of Bush however the man has more black people on his staff than most Presidents.

Kanye has the right to his opinion; however the moron was in the middle of a fund raiser. I am sure it didn't occur to the idiot that it wasn't the place for it. If he wants to go off and make another crappy song that includes the phrase Bush doesn't like black people fine but a fundraiser is the wrong place for a political statement. Suppose for just a minute that Bush supporters didn't donate because of Kanye's statement. I am sure most disregarded it but imagine if a minority were so offended they choose not to give. Kanye would be hurting the people he claims he wanted to help.

It's tough to top that Farrakhan one, but my favorite was either Tom Cruise's "YOU don't know the history of psychology. I do." or Janeane Garofalo's appearance on the Daily Show. I don't have a transcript handy, but by the end of the interview, Jon Stewart was actually defending President Bush.

No one can top the Head of the Democratic Party and his "hide the salami" quote. That might go down as the funniest quote of the year.

Hide the salami, hide the fact that you really didn't have the intelligence..;) hehe.

That was more amusing than something that was insulting to people, like telling them God was going to turn against them bbecause they didn't agree.

Ok, I exaggerated. You caught me. Can we call it civil unrest at least?

Yes, I know, this country was founded by the elite for the elite. At least thats what I learned in High School. But! There was also an extremely heavy emphasis on separation of church and state.

Latrinsorm
11-14-2005, 10:54 AM
Yes.

That separation of church and state thing was just a fad. Nobody thought it would really stick. Not a lot of people know this, but Thomas Jefferson was actually a pseudonym of Pope Gregory the Great. He was just joshing.

Someone actually picked Kanye West. lol. You're giving that guy way more credit than he deserves. Like tons. His ploy was to sell albums and that statement worked wonders for his career, oddly enough. He's made a flaming fortune since then.

As for actual wackos, I'd have to say Pat Robertson gets my top vote. Harriet Miers is a close second.

In the Iraq war so far, the U.S. military has deposed a dictator who had already used weapons of mass destruction and would have used them again. As we now know, Saddam Hussein was working with al-Qaida and was trying to acquire long-range missiles from North Korea and enriched uranium from Niger.

WTF is she smoking. I want some... er, actually I’ll pass this time if thats what it does to you.

The Democrats are giving aid and comfort to the enemy for no purpose other than giving aid and comfort to the enemy. There is no plausible explanation for the Democrats' behavior other than that they long to see U.S. troops shot, humiliated, and driven from the field of battle.

They fill the airwaves with treason, but when called to vote on withdrawing troops, disavow their own public statements. These people are not only traitors, they are gutless traitors.
