but to chime in on this thread about 12 pages too late, umm, it's all about how hard you work, your education, and your viewpoint.

I will say this though,

I worked on a video/film which showed the conditions of inner-city schools (Detroit) vs. some of the white suburban schools (where I was from).

Honestly, the Detroit/inner-city schools had nowhere near the educational resources that the richer white/suburban schools had.
I have to say that I was quite shocked to see what the children had/didn't have, and unless some of you white people out there can actually claim to see the school system in which these children are brought up, then STFU.

I am considered white, even though I am mediterannean-european ancestry (my skin is darker)

Sure, alot of success in america is through hard work and effort, but the point is our educational system is completely uneven, not the lack of intelligent people.
