Former President Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, the two GOP presidential frontrunners, have both promised a crackdown on colleges should they occupy the White House — a stark reflection of the right's growing skepticism of higher education.

Driving the news: In a video posted on his website last week, Trump pledged to "fire the radical Left accreditors" and hire new ones "who will impose real standards on colleges."

Some of those standards would include "protecting free speech," "removing all Marxist diversity, equity, and inclusion bureaucrats," and "implementing college entrance and exit exams to prove that students are actually learning and getting their money's worth."

Is Trump qualified to manage a university?

Sounds like a good plan. What do you object about it?

He is qualified to hire someone like a Jordan Peterson or Thomas Sowell to do it for him.

Everything you just quoted... because if Trump is for it, he is automatically against it.

Accreditation has been an important issue for DeSanctimonious for a long time. Trump is trying to make the issue his own. Trump never had to worry about accreditation when he was running Trump University.

Florida sued the federal government last month because the Feds have not permitted Florida schools to switch accreditation agencies.

On a federal level, DeSantis pledged to get rid of accreditation programs for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. With control of the Department of Education, DeSantis said he would offer “alternative accreditation regimes” that would be “colorblind” and not offer them to schools who participate or offer DEI initiatives.

There are some tools at the federal level that we don’t necessarily have at the state level. For example, some of the problems with the university and the ideological capture, that didn’t happen by accident. It can trace back all the way to the accreditation cartels. Well guess what? To become an accreditor, how do you do that? You’ve got to get approved by the U.S Department of Education, so we’re going to be doing alternative accreditation regimes where instead of saying, “You will only get accredited if you do DEI,” you’ll have an accreditor that will say, “We will not accredit you if you do DEI.” We want a colorblind, merit-based accreditation scheme, and so as president controlling that agency, you can then approve other types of accreditation.

If you Google "University of ________ Values" for your favorite school, you'll probably find that "inclusiveness" or "diversity" is a core value. DeSanctimonious and copycat Trump want to take away the right of a school to hold those core values.

Problem is, Ron DeSantis looks like somebody from the shitty part of New Jersey, while Donald Trump has the Upper Manhattan spray tan Oompa Loompa look that so many right-wingers love

I never cared what he or any other president looks like. It's their policies that matter. Trump's were pro-America and lowered taxes while Biden is sundowning and every world leader is taking advantage of him, while he raises taxes, has corrupted all the alphabet organizations and feeds the Biden syndicate family millions of dollars.

Can you imagine how many impeachments Trump would have had for cocaine in the Whitehouse?
