"Humans only have one ending. Ideas live forever." That's the conclusion of the below trailer for the Barbie movie..

Buried in the trailer is a brief glimpse -- you'll find it at 1:01 -- of an idea that is upsetting the global order, exacerbating international rifts, and sending Barbie to the censors! It's a world map with dotted lines showing Barbie's travels during the movie. One of the dotted lines is suspiciously similar to the Nine-Dash Line (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine-dash_line) that marks China's disputed claim to the South China Sea.
Because of the map, Vietnam has banned Barbie from their theaters. The Philippines appears (https://www.nprillinois.org/2023-07-06/after-vietnam-the-philippines-could-be-next-to-ban-barbie-heres-why) poised to follow suit.
Does the controversy doom Barbie? Or will it increase ticket sales? Was it an accident or on purpose?
I haven't seen this much political controversy about a movie since The Interview starring James Franco and Seth Rogen.
