Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, speaking at the NCGOP convention Friday night, said if he’s elected president he would reverse the recent decision to change the name of Fort Bragg to Fort Liberty.

If DeSanctimonious is the GOP nominee, the Confederate base names will be a fun campaign issue.
He is mistaken about his ability to reverse the name change. A law passed by Congress in 2021 required the military to stop using Confederate names. The President cannot reverse it without getting Congress to pass a new law. Unless he's talking about naming it after Alvin Bragg. That would okay, since Alvin is too young to have been a Confederate.

Is that anything like like how the President can't change immigration law on his own but two have?

It's almost like the federal government is completely illegitimate and some states are going to do whatever the fuck they want. It's not like they are going to remove the military from Florida.

You have to be this stupid to get upset about a name yet support the political party that supported the confederacy.

And who's currently the biggest defenders of human trafficking (modern slave trade) by having open borders, protected Epstein, and who's current line about allowing illegal aliens is "Who will pick the vegetables?" You know, when slavery was ended, the Democrats said "Who will pick the cotton?"

Yeah fuck those defeated rebels! We should also blow up the Crazy Horse memorial in South Dakota. Replace it with a giant sculpture of US Army officer George Armstrong Custer to commemorate his valiant last stand against those savage belligerents.

You have a strange way of looking at history... This was settled over 150 years ago. See the (cancelled) trial of Jefferson Davis. Confederate soldiers were not convicted of treason.

The irony of you accusing others of supporting "treason" while you blindly defend Biden selling out the country 24/7.

You are a confederate sympathizer, you literally run cover for the political party that supported the south. It's not just a coincidence that all the paintings removed from the Whitehouse were democrats.
Shouldn't you be demanding that the Democrat party be abolished?

Proof that Trump officials read my posts and take them seriously. Who but me could have thought up such an ingenious scheme? I didn't know about Roland Bragg when I suggested Alvin Bragg, but it's the same kind of thing. There's no way Pete Hegseth could have thought of it independently.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth signed a memorandum on Monday to rename Fort Liberty to Fort Bragg. The base was named Fort Bragg for over 100 years until it was changed to Fort Liberty in 2023.
Fort Bragg will be named after Private First Class Roland L. Bragg, who served in the Army during World War II. The Secretary of Defense said Bragg received a Silver Star and a Purple Heart during the war. Bragg was involved in the infamous Battle of the Bulge and served in the 17th Airborne Division, according to the memorandum.
Officials did not say where Bragg was from or how long he served in the military. He is not found in any publicly available military databases.

The base, which is in Georgia, will again be called Fort Benning.
The base’s name was changed in 2023 as part of a wider bipartisan effort to eliminate military honors bestowed on Confederate officers who rebelled against the Union during the Civil War. Mr. Hegseth views those changes as part of a “woke” culture and wants to return the bases back to their old names.
Current law does not let him do that — the military is no longer allowed to name bases after Confederate generals — so Mr. Hegseth has found other military troops with the same last names.
Last month, he announced that Fort Liberty in North Carolina would return to the name Fort Bragg, but in honor of an enlisted Army soldier named Roland L. Bragg, who fought in World War II, and not the Confederate general Braxton Bragg.
On Monday, it was Fort Moore’s turn.
“I direct the U.S. Army to change the name of Fort Moore, Georgia, to Fort Benning, Georgia, in honor of Corporal (CPL) Fred G. Benning, who served with extraordinary heroism during World War I with the United States Army, and in recognition of the installation’s storied history of service to the United States of America,” Mr. Hegseth said in a statement.
