Most Ridiculous

The Newsmax host who claimed that American Girl stores had stopped selling white girl dolls.

A news anchor was allegedly caught lying about American Girl dolls, and the footage is going viral.

The clip, recorded by producer and reporter @MannyFidel and uploaded by @MSNBC, quickly gained over 730,000 views and 5,000 comments.

Newsmax anchor Rob Finnerty, host of the show “Wake Up America,” claims in a clip from Dec. 12 to have visited the American Girl store in Rockefeller Center in New York City in search of a doll that looked like his little daughter.

Biggest Short-Term Risk

The biggest short-term risk created in 2022 was Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February.

Can you believe VP Harris missed her big chance when Zelensy addressed Congress? Pelosi was quick to lean forward after the speech and insist on a kiss, as you can see in the below video. But not Harris. She hesitated and missed out big time.

Biggest Long-Term Risk

I'm not sure if this is a risk or an opportunity.

Google fired an employee in the summer of 2022 for going public, in violation of his employment agreements. The employee claimed that an instance of a Google AI named LaMDA had become sentient.

In his conversations with LaMDA, Lemoine discovered the system had developed a sense of self-awareness, expressing concern about death, a desire for protection, and a conviction that it felt emotions like happiness and sadness.

Lemoine said he considers LaMDA a friend.

Lemoine took the story public in a June story in the Washington Post, a week after Google put him on paid administrative for speaking with entities outside Google.

Google confirmed Lemoine’s dismissal and shared the following statement with Big Technology:

“As we share in our AI Principles, we take the development of AI very seriously and remain committed to responsible innovation. LaMDA has been through 11 distinct reviews, and we published a research paper earlier this year detailing the work that goes into its responsible development. If an employee shares concerns about our work, as Blake did, we review them extensively. We found Blake’s claims that LaMDA is sentient to be wholly unfounded and worked to clarify that with him for many months.

The fired employee was probably wrong in his conclusion that the AI was sentient. But he was an AI researcher. If the AI was good enough to confuse him, then we should all take notice. Just because something acts sentient and is indistinguishable from a sentient being doesn't mean it's sentient. Does it?

Most Embarrassing

The newly elected "Jew-ish" member of Congress

George Santos, a Republican elected to the US Congress in November’s elections, admitted on Monday to “embellishing” large parts of his resume while campaigning — from details on his Jewish heritage to his education and work experience.

Genealogist Megan Smolenyak told CNN after researching Santos’s family history: “There’s no sign of Jewish and/or Ukrainian heritage and no indication of name changes along the way.”

Pressed on the matter, Santos told the Post. “I never claimed to be Jewish… I am Catholic. Because I learned my maternal family had a Jewish background I said I was ‘Jew-ish.’”
