“Well, in my own mind, I’ve already made that decision, so nothing factors in anymore. In my own mind, I’ve already made that decision,” he said.

He wouldn’t disclose what he’d decided. Not at first. But then he couldn’t help himself. “I would say my big decision will be whether I go before or after,” he said. “You understand what that means?” His tone was conspiratorial. Was he referring to the midterm elections? He repeated after me: “Midterms.” Suddenly, he relaxed, as though my speaking the word had somehow set it free for discussion. “Do I go before or after? That will be my big decision,” he said.

He was thinking aloud now. “I just think that there are certain assets to before,” he said. “Let people know. I think a lot of people would not even run if I did that because, if you look at the polls, they don’t even register. Most of these people. And I think that you would actually have a backlash against them if they ran. People want me to run.”

Now that he has announced everything except for the announcement date, how will the Republican primary unfold? The big risk for Republicans is that Trump might not win the primary. If he does not win the primary, then he will claim it was rigged and will spend the rest of 2024 bashing the Republican nominee.

I think Trump is the only person Biden(or Kamala if he opts to not go for a second term) could defeat.

Bigger risk for the Republicans is supporting him and then his being arrested for one of the four top five criminal investigations against him.

Doesn't matter. If Trump somehow doesn't run, then DeSantis will. If Trump does run, it will probably/hopefully be a Trump/DeSantis ticket, which will completely steamroll.

Pedocrats are getting rekt either way, both in 2022 and 2024.

I don't think a Trump ticket can win, nor will it Steamroll. Desantis could steamroll.

Who are dems gonna run? Hillary? They've made it pretty clear that they don't want Biden running again, which Biden is apparently pissed off about so there's already some infighting. Who's left? Kamala? Bernie? Betocuck? Michelle?

I think after getting a taste of Biden and dems being more worried about someone being misgendered than people being able to afford basic needs, Trump vs. Biden in 2024 wouldn't be too difficult.

Trump's biggest hurdle would really be mustering up the self discipline to shut the fuck up long enough to not shoot himself in the foot. Which I'm not totally convinced that he's capable of that, but it's pretty likely that we're going to find out.

I think any ticket with DeSantis, either as pres or VP, would wreck shop, and Trump/DeSantis would probably sway a lot of voters who would otherwise stay home for a Trump/someone else ticket.

Yes, I think Trump is the only Republican nominee that could lose to any of those. Generic Republican would win.

You have to get the center. Trump being the nominee would make it a fight that could be lost.

I don't think the center is wanting more of what democrats are offering either though.

I can't help but wonder what 2017-2021 would have been like with Trump, but without the mean tweets. Pretty sure most people on either side can agree that he tends to be his own worst enemy.

He's still a better President than Biden is.

would Trump go independent if he didn't get in through the republican party?

I'd hope not, but I wouldn't put it past him.

That just means DeSantis runs, and democrats lose.

Only if Trump doesn't try and pull a Ross Perot. He'll pull a third of the Republican vote, easy.
