EXCLUSIVE: Former President Trump will not return to Twitter, even as Elon Musk purchases the social media company and reinstates his account, instead using his own TRUTH Social as the sole platform for his voice.

Twitter, on Monday afternoon, announced it agreed to be acquired by Musk for $44 billion.

The former president told Fox News Monday that he will formally join his own TRUTH Social over the next seven days, as planned.

"I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on TRUTH," Trump told Fox News. "I hope Elon buys Twitter because he'll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on TRUTH."

Though Trump has publicly panned Twitter as boring and irrelevant, he still looks at the site often, mostly via printouts of tweets from politicians and journalists handed to him by his aides, according to two people familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss Trump’s habits.

Trump regularly bemoans his lost reach — his Truth Social fan base is about 1 percent of his peak Twitter following — and complains that his comments now don’t get as much pickup in public discussion or the press.

“Truth Social is working out its kinks, they are onboarding people … but he loved his Twitter,” said a Trump adviser who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject. “Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.”

The stock is down nearly 50% over the last month and nearly 40% since April 4, the day Musk first disclosed he had acquired a stake in Twitter.


I predict that Trump will stab his investors in the back and start using Twitter again.

On that note, Musky has put a hold on his acquisition of Twitter until they can properly document the number of bots tweeting as opposed to legitimate users. This after he sold a bunch of stock while his brand was hyper-inflated. Elon Musk might actually be an expert of using Twitter bots, following research showing how his company's stock benefited from tens of thousands or more artificial accounts tweeting positive reviews. Growing consensus; it was just an excuse to sell stock while the valuation is high.


Tesla shares may have benefitted from Twitter bot accounts over the years as well. A University of Maryland researcher recently concluded that such bots have been used to generate hundreds of thousands of positive tweets about Tesla, potentially buoying its stock in years when it was under pressure.


Neither Tesla nor its supporters has taken responsibility for those bots.


Investors assessing the deal have had to weigh Musk’s legal troubles as the possibility that acquiring Twitter could be a distraction from running the world’s most valuable automaker. The proposed deal continued to pressure shares of Tesla, which had already fallen 16% this week.
