This is the problem with Conservatism and why Leftists are beating us. He backed the fuck off after his constituents got after him for that shit. Conservatives are throwing out the baby with the bathwater in that they will not support a candidate that might not agree on one issue even if they reverse course after public pressure and because of that a lot of pretty good candidates lose fucking elections and we end up with shitbags, RINOS and Leftists. Sometimes we need to take a pretty good candidate when there is no better one available. This is why the Never Trumpers are fucking retarded.
