Not just with schools, but with almost everything. Those that fought so hard to "win" by any means necessary, put EVERYONE through hell just for their personal attainment of power. If I remember correctly, no one was 100% opposed to opening schools, as long it could be done safely. With the vaccine being distributed, better understanding of the virus and a president that’s actually going to listen to scientist and medical experts.. I feel more safe opening schools now, than before.

When probably over 15m Chinese already traveled abroad? That the major source of our coronavirus came from Europe. You do understand that his travel ban had little to no effect in stopping it from spreading into the states?

You also do realize that stopping flights, doesn’t stop the virus, it hopefully slows it down so we can have more time to deal with it and prepare so it doesn’t become a pandemic in the states... it’s needs to be a multilevel response, as you can tell we didn’t use this time wisely, and that is what Fauci was referring to when he said stopping the flights from China was a good thing.

Minorities aren't at higher risk of catching COVID because of a biological reason; it's that their communities are under served by medical professionals, and heavy-handed anti-immigration tactics used by the Trump administration actively hurt public health (https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMp2005953).

They blew this all out of proportion to win the election and it worked. They claimed this was a deadly disease when it kills a very small fraction of the people who contract it. They pushed for shut downs to affect the mentality of everyone, to make them unhappy with the current government of the time, to get enough of the people in the middle to swing in their favor.

I will agree that Trump did screw it up and could have done a better job of it though. You talk about his lack of leadership, but it isn't like any politicians have true leadership skills. All of them will do and say anything to get RE-elected. Trump is almost the ultimate proof of how bad our politics are but instead of learning from it, it looks like all sides are just doubling down on what makes them bad for the country and no one is willing to change.

I don't know how well it would work in practice but I think it would be interesting that instead of just voting for someone we could vote against them. So on the ballot you'd have something like

And if the total number of votes against someone was equal or greater than the number for them they'd not be elected even if they had more votes than the other guy. And if neither won there would be another election held. Most people vote one side over the other because they are more scared of the side they are not voting for even if they don't particularly like the side they are giving their vote to. I think giving the people the option of having neither get elected might push more politicians in the direction we all want them to go. Of course, term limits would help too but good luck on getting all of us to get off our collective ass to do it.

Yeah I just really don't know what to say. It breaks my heart that anyone could possibly think the Covid pandemic is overblown for political reasons. The percentage of people dying may be small but when you are talking about numbers this large you are talking about hundreds of thousands of people who absolutely know this is not being overblown. Nobody wants this pandemic. Nobody wants this many people sick and dying. Nobody wants the economic fallout.

If Trump had simply been a decent human being he'd have a second term. But he decided to play politics instead of address the issue. You can try to blame anyone, everyone, anything, and everything for Trump losing a second term but plain and simple he fucked it up.
