Further proof that the Trump campaign tried to marginalize African-American voters by making sure their voices weren't heard. Shame on Trump, Shame on Facebook.

Analysis by Channel 4 News shows Black Americans – historically a community targeted with voter suppression tactics – were disproportionately marked ‘Deterrence’ by the 2016 campaign.

In total, 3.5 million Black Americans were marked ‘Deterrence’.

In Georgia, despite Black people constituting 32% of the population, they made up 61% of the ‘Deterrence’ category. In North Carolina, Black people are 22% of the population but were 46% of ‘Deterrence’. In Wisconsin, Black people constitute just 5.4% of the population but made up 17% of ‘Deterrence’.

The disproportionate categorising of Black Americans for ‘Deterrence’ is seen across the US. Overall, people of colour labelled as Black, Hispanic, Asian and ‘Other’ groups made up 54% of the ‘Deterrence’ category. In contrast, other categories of voters the campaign wished to attract were overwhelmingly white.

So what I gather is that Trump paid for advertisements and hoped democrats didn't come out to vote against him. Really hard hitting story there.

All I'm reading is that the Trump campaign was lightyears ahead of everyone else when it came to internet marketing. It's not like it's was hard to make Hillary Clinton seem like the worst candidate in human history........

Trump marked groups "deterrence" Hillary marked groups "deplorable". Same shit. This article doesn't say he ever went out and tried to force groups to not vote. Just that they didn't want those groups to. I bet ever candidate in the history of politics didn't want opposing sides to go out to vote against them.

The one with the G name, forgotten now since his burnout on emotional diatribes has subsided. I guess he ran out of liquid courage or his Obama phone minutes.

Oh Geijon! Yea, he's definitely a contender.. but because he tends to be lazy, he was never at the top of any list.

So the Trump campaign knew there were certain voter demographics that historically vote Democrat 90%+ of the time and therefore hoped people in said demographic didn't vote? And this is somehow a story and proves Trump was marginalizing said demographic?

Bitch, are you for real?

This is the dumbest shit I have ever read.

Like there aren't certain demographics that Democrats hope don't vote in any given election?

I’ve never heard of a presidential candidate, openly say or pay for advertising, hoping the other political party wouldn’t vote. Just hoping they would switch their vote. Can you show an examples of this happening before? I did a google search and couldn’t find anything.

Think it’s a little messed up they are trying to stop people from voting through adverts, instead of encouraging it.

Those were your words. I just quoted what you said.
I can’t watch US TV, so I have no clue if he actually paid for any adverts.

The funny part is the article isn't even claiming that's what happened.

The only thing they mentioned was the Trump campaign supposedly targeted black voters with this:

But Channel 4 News has uncovered evidence that the campaign did target Black voters with negative ads designed to crush Hillary Clinton’s turnout.

These included videos featuring Hillary Clinton referring to Black youths as “super predators” which aired on television 402 times in October 2016 and received millions of views on Facebook.

In one confidential document seen by Channel 4 News, Cambridge Analytica admitted the Trump campaign did target “AA” (African Americans) with what it called the “Predators video” – spending $55,000 USD in the state of Georgia alone.

Saying they played ads hoping the viewing audience wouldn't vote for Hillary Clinton is miles away from actively telling them to stay home and not vote at all.

What even is this dumb shit anymore? Like politicians have never tried to dissuade people from voting for their opponent? Isn't that exactly what negative ads are? But now suddenly little over a month before the election and the day of the debate "ZOMG! Trump didn't want black people to vote for Hillary! Literally the devil and voter suppression!"

Show me a Trump campaign approved ad that told black people to stay home on election day or they will be met with violence or telling black people election day is a week after the real election day then I'll start taking this dumb shit seriously. Until then piss off with this dumb shit.

It's dumb shit like this by dumb people that make normal people vote for Trump even more.
