We're a small enough community to ask this question..

Are we so polarized that we fight among one another endlessly, or do we realize the idiocy from both political parties and take a breather from it?

Let's end the polarization that happens on these forums and realize we agree on 90% of things, and the 10% we can discuss... as opposed to just vilifying one another.

Perhaps that's to broad of a wish, but it's one I hope for... for us all.

The problem is, we can't "discuss" those 10% items for a couple of reasons. I will point out a few with generalizations so people can keep their panties out of a wad with the absolutism bullshit. GOT IT, generalizations, people will still cry and whine, fuck that. These points apply pretty much universally but aren't absolute so whatever. Second caveat, this is my opinion so too deal.

The Left, when they say "compromise" they mean "You give up something from your moral position to give me something I want so I can push further and further toward my agenda. I won't really give up anything". The evidence of this is the asinine commentary on "common sense gun control", the push for police "oversight" and the push for LGBQABCXYZwhatever "rights". Both started with one point and have now gone into the absurd and all Conservatives have done is give ground. When it was pointed out that people were pushing for full on firearm bans, the lies were spewed that it wasn't a ban, just a little control of the most "egregious" things. Now, it's pushes for full on bans. The same slippery slope has happened regarding police in that it was let's reduce violence, change rules of engagement, add cameras for "accountability" and now, we are into the "Let's ban police all together." Next, we get to the really scary one, the LGBQ "rights" group. "We want equal rights" was the start, then there was the push for the whole pronoun bullshit "with laws", so called right to use whatever bathroom you "identify" with and now we have groups (note plural) out there advocating for flat out pedophilia because "It's how they identify so it should be ok." The fact is, the slippery slope may be a logical fallacy, it is a social reality and without great social upheaval, there is no climbing up the slope, only brakes on the way down.

Next, we have the lovely tendency of the Left to argue just about everything from the point of "If you don't agree with me you are a murder/monster/hate kids/con't care if people die/whatever". People die, kids die, old people die, everyone dies and this argument is insulting, demeaning and completely irrational but hey, it was what got Hitler voted in to take over Austria so it works.

The Left is far too willing to resort to violent and irrational action because to them, the end justifies the means and if the end is an emotional feel good, who cares how much destruction they cause to get it. Case in point, the riots around the country, mass riots, arson, assault, sexual assault and murder and the Left just goes long with it because it is a means to an end despite the destruction of the society in the process. They dismiss it and justify it as "mostly peaceful" protesters. Well, to paraphrase a movie, there is a big difference in mostly peaceful and all peaceful, mostly peaceful is slightly violent. Except in this case, it isn't slightly violent, it's a lot violent. Loads of genuinely peaceful protests happened all across the country and buildings weren't burned, people weren't attacked, the police provided security and you see those pictures presented when trying to excuse and dismiss the rioting. And you can see that this is the case because you see the Leftist apologists on this forum as well as in the news and so on use an argument that looks something like this: "Of course I condemn the violence, BUT . . . " The conjunction "but" in these cases nullifies all that is said before it which is their intent.

There are a lot more that are just the continued use of distraction and false equivalence but those can be common on both sides. The above tend to be primarily demonstrated on the Left.

I would agree that both sides sometimes use bad and faulty argumentative tactics, either as an emotional reaction or in service of what they perceive to be the greater good; I'm of the opinion that the right tends to be guilty of using specious and/or fallacious reasoning much more often, but that isn't absolute and neither side is blameless.

What I believe was requested was that you turn a critical eye toward your own side for a moment, as you seem entirely uncritical of the right and willing to believe whatever they state without question; I'm not saying that's entirely accurate, personally, but that is the impression that a lot of your statements engender.
