Donald Trump has admitted Russia aided his election to the White House for the first time during a Twitter tirade attacking Robert Mueller.
It comes the morning after Mr Mueller, speaking publicly for the first time in two years, appeared to hint at the prospect of the president's impeachment by noting only congress has the authority to "formally accuse a sitting president of wrongdoing".
Reiterating on Wednesday the conclusions of his 448-page report into Russian election interference, the former special counsel declined to exonerate Mr Trump, saying he “would have said so” if his team “had confidence the president clearly did not commit a crime”.
Mr Mueller's report outlined 10 occasions upon which Mr Trump potentially attempted to obstruct justice.
On Thursday morning, Mr Trump tweeted: "The Greatest Presidential Harassment in history. After spending $40,000,000 over two dark years, with unlimited access, people, resources and cooperation, highly conflicted Robert Mueller would have brought charges, if he had ANYTHING, but there were no charges to bring!"
In fact, Mr Mueller made clear on Wednesday that his office could not consider charging Mr Trump because Justice Department policy prohibits indicting a sitting president.
Mr Trump continued: "Russia, Russia, Russia! That’s all you heard at the beginning of this Witch Hunt Hoax...And now Russia has disappeared because I had nothing to do with Russia helping me to get elected.
"It was a crime that didn’t exist. So now the Dems and their partner, the Fake News Media say he fought back against this phony crime that didn’t exist, this horrendous false acquisition (sic), and he shouldn’t fight back, he should just sit back and take it.
"Could this be Obstruction? No, Mueller didn’t find Obstruction either. Presidential Harassment!"
The apparent claim Russia was effective in helping him get elected was a stunning U-turn by the president, who has previously flip-flopped between saying Russia's interference had no effect on the election and at other times that Moscow did not meddle at all.
Despite posting the same tweets twice - the second time to correct a typo - Mr Trump later backtracked while addressing reporters outside the White House before boarding Marine One.
In what amounted to a series of misleading statements about Mr Mueller's probe, Mr Trump said Russia "did not help get me elected" and instead falsely claimed Hillary Clinton had colluded with Moscow.

Hah! That's funny.

The clown train continues. It's funny how suddenly people are worried about another country "helping" a person get elected. Didn't most world leaders practically suck Obama's dick on live television in order to help him get elected and reelected? But Democrats suddenly remembered Russia is our enemy after spending 8 years treating Russia as a friend because Obama defended them a shit load more than Trump does.

It's also funny, for 2 years it's been "The Russians interfered in our elections to help Trump! Why can't he just admit this?!?!"
Trump "admits" it (he probably phrased what he meant to say poorly), then it's "AH HA! He admits it! IMPEACH!"
If I were a betting man I would wager the clowns are just doing the exact opposite of whatever Trump says and does.
Also how come it never gets mentioned that there is evidence that Russians were playing both sides? They had pro-Trump trolls AND pro-Hillary trolls doing the rounds on social media. But that's not convenient to the narrative! Move along now, the media doesn't want you to know the whole truth.

I'm not really sure how the Russians could help him get elected in the first place. Seems to me if the Russians did buy him, then it was a very bad choice either way. He has put way more pressure on them than Obama did.
Also, Remember this:
How many sand niggers did you kill?
Oh I'm so mad right now I might just kill a nigger.

The golden rule about Trump, is that to Trump, everything is about Trump. He's entirely ego driven. The only reason that he hasn't done anything to strengthen our election systems, is that it would be an admission that a foreign country helped him get elected. He'd rather deny the interference of the Russians than help the USA improve its elections. That's why this slip up is so entertaining, and a sad indictment of our Ignatius Riley president at the same time.

You do know the Russians didn't hack voting machines or anything of that sort, right?
Why are you not demanding that facebook be shut down for their involvement. I mean we totally don't want to have interactions with people from around the globe, that would be terribly disruptive to the cattle farm.

Didn't this happen during another Administration's watch?
Oh right.. it did.
Being as specific as you can: How did the Russians get Trump elected?
At least we can all rest assure that President Trump didn't collude with the Russians. Thank you Mueller!

According to the DHS and FBI, the Russians attempted to hack election systems in all 50 states, plus companies that made voting machines. This was during the 2016 election run up. Your commander in chief would rather our election systems be at risk than have his legitimacy quesioned.

I'm sure people attempt to hack our election systems all of the time. Unless one of them succeeds it sounds like useless fear mongering.
Also what do you want Trump to do? Each state and county is responsible for the way they handle elections. The federal government does not get involved at all and something tells me people would rather NOT have the federal government get personally involved, especially with Trump as president. I don't say that as a knock to Trump, but rather as a knock to those states who are collectively suffering from some massive TDS.

The only reason we haven't voted to do anything to strengthen our country is that it would be an admission that trump has great ideas for our country. Sooo... what you're saying is, the Russians didn't hack our election system? But let's pretend that they did.
To me, the candidate who was wiping hard drives, destroying cell phones, hiring a foreign IT employee (and their family) who got busted with computer hardware (who was attempting to flee the country and remained on the DNC payroll after getting busted), fixed the Democrat primaries, who's husband had already been impeached................. Sounds more like the person who was playing with the Russians than Donald Trump.
I feel sorry for people like you at this point, it gives a whole new meaning to pointing out splinters with a log in your eye.

I did not say that. Do I have to Google everything for you? There were systems that were successfully hacked, in Florida. And obviously it wasn't just hacking. Trump's ego keeps him from accepting that we were attacked by the Russians for his benefit. His ego makes him weak and exploitable.

Every conservative poster here uses four tactics.
A) Make shit up, present it as facts, stonewall when challenged, follow it up with B)
B) Make ad-hominem attacks on someone the moment they cross the line. The line in the sand is not eating up Trump's verbal diarrhea.
C) Make strawman attacks because their position is so indefensible, their only way to gain points in a debate is to create a viewpoint for someone and then attack it.

But in a statement Thursday, the Florida Department of State also said that it "has no knowledge or evidence of any successful hacking attempt at the county level during the 2016 elections.
There's no evidence that any of these hacking attempts — successful or not — affected the actual operations or outcome of elections in 2016.

An "attempt" doesn't mean the election results were changed or affected at all.
And President Obama was the Commander in Chief during that time period.
And his response? He told Putin to "stop it".
Unless you believe President Obama was ineffective, he pretty much put a stop to it then and there.

If you read the rest of the article you quoted you'll see the FBI/DHS answer to that. Who you going to trust there? Florida election official or DHS?
All this is besides the point of course. It's an arms race, and if we don't focus on improving, we'll be fucked.

I'm kind of confused how this is even still a thing. Of course Russia tries to influence our elections. So does every country in the world, just like we do our best to influence other countries in order to give favorable policies and regimes. Hell, the US even has it set up on an institutional level. Entire countries have gigantic lobbying groups in US politics to influence us.
https://www.opensecrets.org/fara/countries
And in case anyone was still thinking we were above all that, here's a list of countries where we skipped the whole "subtle influence" thing and just tried to install regimes that were more friendly to the US.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_involvement_in_regime_change
I dislike Trump as much as the next person, but I'm unwilling to grasp at straws to find anything, literally anything, to try to pin on him. And if I was willing, I'd pick something less stupid than this.

B) Make ad-hominem attacks on someone the moment they cross the line, like me calling someone a pedo. The line in the sand is not eating Hillary's asshole for breakfast lunch and dinner every day as well as not having soy be the primary ingredient in your diet when you're not eating Hillary's ass.
