Trump should refuse to sign the congressional compromise. It is a joke and an insult!

In February of last year, Trump rejected a bipartisan proposal that would have given him $2.5 billion specifically for a wall in 2018 plus another $22.5 billion over the next nine years, also specifically for a wall. Then in December he rejected the bill unanimously passed by the Senate that would give him $1.5 billion for border security, not a wall, leading to a prolonged shutdown. The new compromise is $1.375 billion solely for "bollard" fencing. He keeps getting worse offers. That's not the art of the deal!

What is bollard fencing anyway? I think it's the short metal and concrete polls spaced close enough together to keep cars from driving through. You see them on sidewalks outside the entrances to buildings.

If he signs this, then he deserves to be a laughingstock.

That’s what Trump will try to use. However, it’s unlikely that the conservative Supreme Court he helped ensure will buy that this wall is either one of those and allow that sort of run-around. So, basically Trump is screwed. Not only is he going to sign a bill that doesn’t give him the wall he said he’d never compromise on, but he’s going to lose a Supreme Court battle about a fake national emergency.

All that said, I’m glad he finally compromised and I think this bill is reasonable. He’s just not going to be happy about that and it’ll fuck him.

A top U.S. military general told lawmakers Tuesday that there is no specific force coming from the south toward the U.S. border that poses a significant threat to the homeland or to troops stationed there.


Air Force Gen. Terrence O'Shaughnessy, head of U.S. Northern Command and North American Aerospace Defense Command, told members of the Senate Armed Services Committee that the "threats" coming from the southern border "are not military in nature."
