I imagine ever President since Washington has had multiple assassination attempts. Some we hear about, some way don't.

Keep in mind this is the second political assassination attempt on Republicans in 2 years. More than that if the baseball game counts as multiple targets.

There has probably been a lot more than 2. To put it into perspective, there were 16 attempts that we know about against Obama, one included ricin as well.

Hell, by this time in Obama's term he already had 6 attempts.

People are trying to kill public figures all the time, it isn't a Republican/Democrat thing.

Exactly this. There are losers on both sides of the aisle who look for their name to be famous.
