A Russian Surveillance plane, crewed by 12, has gone missing off the coast of Syria. This occurred during a joint French and Israel attack on a port in Syria. The Israelis used F-16s while the French fired missiles from a destroyer. Neither of them have claimed responsibility, but it is leaning towards the Israelis shooting it down.

I don't see why they'd shoot it down unless it was targeted by mistake but it's not like the Syrian air force has assets like that.

Probably because it was relaying information to Syrian allies that they were striking.
