Israel's prime minister scheduled a special prime-time statement Monday to reveal what his office said would be a "significant development" in the Iranian nuclear program.

Before the surprise announcement, Netanyahu canceled a speech at the parliament and convened an emergency meeting of his Security Cabinet at Israeli military headquarters in Tel Aviv. Netanyahu was to issue his statement from the same location later Monday.

Netanyahu's planned statement came on the heels of a missile attack in northern Syria that killed at least 26-pro-government fighters, mostly Iranians, according to a Syria war monitoring group. Israel had no comment on the strike, but there was widespread speculation that Israel was behind it.

There were no immediate details on what Netanyahu planned to say. Israeli media speculated he was to reveal evidence claiming that Iran is violating the international nuclear deal. The 2015 deal gave Iran relief from crippling sanctions in exchange for curbs on its nuclear program

Bloomberg is saying that US intel confirms:

NEW: US official confirms what Netanyahu said.

Israel shared the Iranian files with the U.S.
And the U.S. verified the material as authentic, I'm told.

So what you are saying is that the Iranian deal is based upon Iranian deception.

I, for one, am shocked.

I would be happy to let Israel have free reign on them.

The deal was shit, everyone knew it, lots of people said it and yet, hey, "peace in our time," We should have kept their cash, told them to fuck off and continued with sanctions and/or let Israel deal with them.

Or just mind our own fucking business for once. If the US is going to maintain a stockpile of thousands and thousands of nuclear weapons we have no place to tell other countries what they can and cannot research.

I don't doubt that they'll keep some records and knowledge so that they can ramp up their program if they choose to. Its not realistic to think they wouldn't. This whole Netanyahu intelligence briefing timed to trump wanting to end the deal, pompeo going to Israel and not meeting palestinians...its all a choreographed dance.

We have go keep in mind that trump has either "friends" or,enemies and we're picking sides in the mid east, arming up and getting ready to escalate.

We'll slap sanctions back on and Iran will go whole hog for a nuke and we won't be able to stop it. Kim dad and grandad fired 31 missiles in testing. He fired something like 89 in 6 years and we didn't keep him for getting a rocket that could deliver nukes to the USA.

This whole thing stinks to high heaven. We've been fucking Iran since the 50s and looks like we're going to continue.

Iran fucked it's self. Also, the continued sucking of the Palestinian Authority dick by the west needs to end and so does western funding of their terrorist activities. They have been offered their own country and autonomy multiple times and turned it down. The only reason other Arabs give one shit about Palestinians is because they irritate Israel as evidenced by all the times they have refused resettlement/refugees and so on. As to realism, the vaunted Iranian deal required giving up all records, research and so on, which they obviously didn't, so they broke the deal. It's not like anyone with a brain ever expected them to live up to it in the first place. Now the question is, what to do about it and them as they have proven that they are willing to again export troops and arms around the Middle East and likely the world.

Amazingly drawing down troops, withdrawing from many places (Europe, Iraq and so on), downsizing the military and letting Liberal diplomacy flow hasn't worked and the world is a much more messy and dangerous place.

I am all for letting them all go at each other and watching from afar.

To bastardize a quote 'There will be peace in the middle east when Arabs love their children more than they hate Israel.'

Under Mohammad Reza's reign, Iran marked the anniversary of 2,500 years of continuous Persian monarchy since the founding of the Achaemenid Empire by Cyrus the Great – concurrent with this celebration, Mohammad Reza changed the benchmark of the Iranian calendar from the hegira to the beginning of the First Persian Empire, measured from Cyrus the Great's coronation.[7] Mohammad Reza also introduced the White Revolution, a series of economic, social and political reforms with the proclaimed intention of transforming Iran into a global power and modernising the nation by nationalising certain industries and granting women suffrage.

Maybe you're right though. Perhaps all those mid easterners need is a heavy dose of tough love and they'll shape up. One way or another I believe we're about to find out.

All you Liberal/Socialist crybabies whine when we intervene somewhere, whine when we don't and loved pretty much anything Obama did despite destabilizing the region and making it so that there are now actual slave markets where black Africans are sold as slaves. Make up your mind which we should do. Between Albright's war, wrecking Libya, fucking up the withdrawal from Iraq and causing Isis, interference hasn't worked so well, now when I suggest letting the whole place rot, you want to whine.

Fuck off.

We're getting some pushback. I hope that Michelle Wolf is,helping the media find some guts.

Mitchell read the statement on air and noted that it contradicts what former CIA Director Mike Pompeo testified to before Congress earlier this month. On April 12, Pompeo said of Iran’s commitment to the deal, “I have seen no evidence they are not in compliance today.”

Though Netanyahu’s presentation suggests the Iranians have been less than candid, it did not include any evidence that the country has violated the deal, and it does not suggest that the country has a “robust, clandestine nuclear weapons program.”

“This is basically a lie about US intelligence,” Mitchell said of the White House statement. “It’s stunning.”

What exactly is sanctimonious about it? Not only does the US have thousands of nuclear warheads we're designing and building new ones as well as hypersonic missiles. To get bent out of shape and call for war with Iran because they're building nukes is pure hypocrisy.

None of BiBi's information was new and much it was published in 2015. He re-hashed old stuff to make a case to screw over Iran who has, by all accounts, lived up to their side of the agreement. He also gained greater power to wage war, has a scandal of his own to distract from and Pompeo was in town but our SecState didn't meet with Palestinians. Oh, Saudi Arabia is becoming relatively Pro-Israel simultaneous to this. It's like we're picking our teams for the next big Mid-East war.

I'm pleased with Korea. There's a chance that trumps crazy bullshit will breakthrough the status quo in SWA too. There's also a chance we kick off WWIII. Ultimately I'm hopeful for the best and worried that we're playing a dangerous game.

I wouldn't push it past them handing full scale, or parts of them, to other actors. Plus, if we just let them have it with no issue, we have countries after them saying "Well what about them!"

We have no issue with Israel having nukes and Saudi Arabia supposedly owns a couple that they purchased from Pakistan.

Never heard anything about Saudi Arabia. Israel supposedly got them in the '60s from France but kept it a secret. Either way, I believe that was prior to the NPT treaty.

From what I recall they initially bought a couple from France but then during the 80's they stole the tech from the US and made their own.

The word on the street is they joint tested Nukes with France and they both created their nuclear capabilities jointly. Israel was fully nuclear capable by 1963.

Nah, that is what they had in the '60s. Thermonuclear weapons are second generation, as opposed to first generation which is what we dropped on Japan. I don't doubt Israel got technology from us to make what they already had better, but the point is, they had Nukes before the 1968 NPT (of which they also didn't sign, though Iran did and is still a signatory of.)

I'll have to look for the document when I get home. The US declassified it within recent years. From what I remember they were actually surprised that Israel was able to improve on the technology that they stole.

Here we go. What the fallout from this will be is yet to be known. Will we have open war? Greater Iranian shadow ops in the mid east? Uptick in terrorism? Persian compliance and complete submission? I don't know but I don't like it. If trump plays his cards right and get mid-east peace through his all stick no carrot policies I'll be impressed.

The problem with liberal foreign policy is that you can't bend over and kiss everyone's ass and then expect to be respected and listened to in this world.

We keep trying to bribe these leaders off, placate to them and hope they will change their mind about us because we really, really want them to like us.

It. Doesn't. Work.

You would think, with all the specific instances of this type of limp wristed diplomacy we've tried throughout history that didn't work.. that we would try a different approach.

It was a terrible agreement that was terrible for the US.

Glad we finally have a President that runs on something and actually follows through with it.

Ya, what was that about? I saw this headline earlier. Did Abe actually react poorly or is this speculation? (guess I better read the link)

So it's an artistic rendition of a shoe cast in steel but that picture looks really bad. The napkin in the shoe looks like they're serving chocolates on a sock.
