View Full Version : The Pelosi Problem

In addition to being a masterful legislative tactician, the 77-year-old Pelosi is, in Politico’s words, “the most successful nonpresidential political fundraiser in U.S. history.” Yet many of her colleagues want her gone. In November 2016, almost a third of House Democrats voted to depose her as leader. Another coup attempt erupted last summer. Why so much discontent with a woman who has proved so good at her job? Maybe because many Democrats think Pelosi’s unpopularity undermines their chances of winning back the House. Why is she so unpopular? Because powerful women politicians usually are. Therein lies the tragedy. Nancy Pelosi does her job about as well as anyone could. But because she’s a woman, she may not be doing it well enough.
The Democrats who want Pelosi gone don’t deny her talent. But they say her unpopularity is too heavy a load to bear. “The Republican playbook for the past four election cycles has been very focused, very clear,” Representative Kathleen Rice, a Democrat from New York, insisted after Ossoff’s defeat. “It’s been an attack on our leader. Is it fair? No. Are the attacks accurate? No. But guess what? They work.” Nonpartisan observers agree. As David Wasserman, an editor of “The Cook Political Report,” tweeted after the Georgia loss, “It’s just extremely difficult for Ds to argue benefits of Nancy Pelosi’s fundraising skills still outweigh cost of her presence in GOP ads.”
The uphill fight for dems is that they want change. GOP can always dog whistle for the status quo and tap into humans natural fear of change. The right has a built in advantage which explains how they win elections (among other reasons like harassing voters) even when the majority of Americans favor democratic policy.

Or it's because the Democrats spent 8 years calling everyone that voted for "Change 1.0" a racist/sexist/bigot..........

This is exactly the problem with people on the left. WE DID NOTHING WRONG ITS RACIST/SEXISM/XENOPHOBIA. It can't be that you put up your worst candidate with way to many skeletons in their closet, no that can't be it. This is exactly why putting up a woman just cause they are a woman isn't a good idea.

What did we do wrong? What in Obamas presidency made you feel bad? What skeletons does Hillary have ( can you even answer that w/o conspiracy theory)
Hillary wasnt the candidate because she's a woman. That's wishful thinking because it fits your narrative. She was a lawyer, senator and sec. State who was also a previous candidate for potus. That's about a typical resume for people who run of any gender

I didn't have a problem with Obama's presidency as a whole. Not a fan of the individual mandate though.
Lets see. HRC close friends with former klu klux clan member, her husband, Clinton Foundation, and the e-mail servers. That's just off the top of my head.

Seriously, this has been gone over 20+ times. The fact you don't get it, can't get it, won't get it or simply discount it completely because it doesn't fit your narrative doesn't change the facts that Obama was mediocre at best and Hillary is far worse. Go re-read the forum posts to find your answer and shut the fuck up.

It takes more than 13% of the population to elect the president, 69,498,516 people voted for Obama in '08. (heh, this suggests more white people voted for Obama than black people)

You're the one that suggested white people were butt hurt over a black president. Pretty much every white person I know voted for Obama in '08, I was excited when he won. Now suddenly their racists, stop it or you will keep losing.

You keep missing the point here. Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan (come on man, Democrats don't lose Michigan unless they have been complete retards) and Pennsylvania all went for Obama in '08. Wisconsin and Iowa are like pasty ass white, what could have possibly happened in those 4 states? According to you and your ilk they all joined the Klan.

This helps explain it.
9/ Despite this, Trump lost with voters. He ended up in the White House by 40,000 votes—40,000 voters micro-targeted by Cambridge Analytica *and* Russian propagandists in a way that makes one wonder how the Russians seemed to have the same data as Trump's Cambridge Analytica did.
The dems suck at messaging. If they (we now since I registered Dem in January) could message like republicans they'd never lose. The differences between left and right mean though, that they can't message the same way. Fear based meme generation won't drive dems back into the arms of the patriarchy or status quo. We do need a real candidate who can light a fire. Personally I think they should go full bore for things like Single Payer. Quit pussy footing around and finally go for it.

Colorado is a dumpster fire on slow burn. Commiefornians moved in to Vale in the 80s and the plague has spread since. South of Colorado Springs it North Mexico. North of Denver is all the yuppie shitbags moving there since it was named a great place to live. Wyoming used to call you all greenies because your tags were green and when I was there, we hoped you would just pass through, get gas, maybe a burger, come spend money at Frontier Days (please pull your fucking pants up) and go the fuck home. Not much worse at a festival than white 20-30's hipsters wearing Eddie Bauer and Birkenstocks with white socks and their pants hanging off their ass drinking Bud and trying to be cool. At least Wyoming has them contained to Jackson Hole area and at the college during the school year.
Now Colorado should be known for the haze of smoke from the dope addled morons like you hanging around trying to argue that socialism works and the state is fine because of the lottery and the pot tax.
Also, they can't manage to finish a damn road project in Denver EVER.

You and Rocktar talking about Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Alaska as the place to go. What they have in common is low ass population. You can't just keep fleeing to places with less people. Eventually you'll run out of somewhere to go.
As for one being superior to another then I guess it depends on how you judge it. Most guys I worked with from Idaho and Montana had to go out of state to get a good job. Then they quit and stay at home, but eventually come back because they need the higher income. That's not so hot.

Bullshit. Companies sit in queue for years to jump over the legal hurdles required for these industries. Often times when all the required paper chasing is completed the government turns around and uses the courts to slow the process even further.
Oddly enough the decades of over regulation is a major contributor to the passing of these tariffs. It also gives an in depth look at how the statist mind works, it truly is a mental disorder.
