The Dow Jones industrial average marked its biggest single-day point drop on Monday afternoon, plunging nearly 1,600 points during trading hours before recovering to close down 1,175.

That's on Obama. The US economy is a big ship that cannot be turned on a dime. Trump isn't responsible for stock drops just one year after his inauguration. The good news is that Trump fired Obama's Fed chairman last Friday, which -- and this is just a coincidence -- was the same day stocks started falling.

Too bad the actual percentage loss was only 4.5% total value. This is far less than Black Tuesday Oct 29, 1929 where the market lost 11.75% total value. And the real largest loss ever in the market on Black Monday Oct 19, 1987 when the market lost 22.61% total value.

Nope. It's just the way it is. I didn't make it up, but you need to keep in your mind that this isn't some immutable economic law. The reason is because the former president has set the course for the next year. By the time that's passed the new presidents vision and policies are taking shape.

No, it's not "just the way it is". It may seem that way when you're playing the retard in political theater, this does not change the fact that economic policy is normally projected over a 10 year period. Not once have I heard "This policy will do x over the next 365 days" but rather it's "this policy will do x over the next 10 years".

I'm not too alarmed about the stock market ups and downs. It felt like "irrational exuberance" had come again. I do wonder though if these big drops will feed on themselves and just keep driving it down to the point that we begin to see real losses vs. paper losses that snowball the whole thing.

The average person saving for retirement definitely should not rely on bonds and savings accounts. That is terrible advice. Bonds and savings accounts are too risky for long-term investing. In the long term, the risk from inflation is greater than the risk from market fluctuations. The stock market offers greater protection from inflation than bonds and savings accounts.

It has always been this way. You just happen to be lucky enough to be living in a point of history where a new form of communication is taking over the information market. I like the idea that my president, though I didn't vote for him, can instantly communicate what is on his or her mind. You should enjoy the ride, the change anyone wants won't come until our backs are against the wall anyway. You need to remember that Trump was voted in to blow up the system, it's honestly one of the few times in our countries history that the voters used their voting powers as a bullet. Working as intended.

In the long term, the risk from inflation is greater than the risk from market fluctuations. The stock market offers greater protection from inflation than bonds and savings accounts.
We will have to agree to disagree. I understand that the stock market has a higher earnings rate over time but we have had to let taxable income go un-taxed for decades to prop up the market we have today. I'm more than comfortable not having to worry about the current "fake economy" we have imploding. If it was just about beating inflation then gold or some other form of commodity would be the best investment..............

You need to remember that Trump was voted in to blow up the systemAnd you gotta tip your hat on this front, he did get a Constitutional Amendment to put term limits on Congressionals.
Okay, well he at least banned them from becoming lobbyists.
Okay, well he got them to pay for his wall until Mexico pays for it.
Okay, well he came up with hilarious insults based on their names. I mean, "Dicky Durbin" from "Dick Durbin". When is the Louvre gonna put that up? Talk about your works of art that totally BLEW UP the system.

I don't think anyone is expecting it to happen in a year. Ending the mandate in the first year is more than I expected to be honest.

It's not that people won't admit to it, they don't care. The Democrats behavior has made it extremely easy to dismiss.

It's not that people won't admit to it, they don't care. The Democrats behavior has made it extremely easy to dismiss. That's the thing though, the choice isn't Trump or Democrats. There are plenty of Republicans who won't lie to your face and laugh at you behind your back. Okay, there are some Republicans who won't do that, but the point stands. You don't have to keep going to bat for this guy. He said he would do what you wanted, and it was a lie. The response is to find someone else who says they'll do what you want, not keep pretending he actually is as he laughs himself into a heart attack at how gullible you are.
Or is that your plan? Be such a sheepish clown that he literally laughs himself to death, and Pence takes over? Clever girl...

I know the Republicans suck too, I have already told you my voting history like...almost as many times as I have fingers and toes. Honestly if the Democrats would stop being retards and the party of baby killers I would probably vote Democrat again. The Democrat party did this all to themselves, suck it up and change the party plank is all I'm sayn'.

Looks like another win for Latrin. Whenever one of the Trump defenders are defeated, they twist in the wind and come back with, "Ya but I hate the whole system" type thing. They're slippery little fish who lack the self esteem to just admit they may be wrong.
