View Full Version : State of the Union 2018

Trump's State of the Union address is tonight at 9.

For those who can't wait to see what he says, there are four important things to speculate about. Below are the three most important issues. In addition to these important issues, it is rumored that the economy, national security and taxes will also be topics.

First, will Melania show up?

Melania Trump has spent a number of nights at a posh D.C. hotel away from President Trump following allegations of a fling with porn star Stormy Daniels, White House sources told DailyMail.com.

The first lady opted for time away from her husband since news of a possible $130,000 payoff from the President's lawyer to Daniels to cover up an alleged tryst was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.

Then, last week, to add insult to injury, a celebrity magazine published a cringe-worthy 2011 interview with Daniels in which she talked about the alleged 2006 sexual encounter with the future president in a hotel room at a casino in Lake Tahoe, Nevada following a celebrity charity golf tournament.

'It's been upsetting and humiliating; her relationship with President Trump has become strained,' a White House source told DailyMail.com.

Second, will Trump mention Russia the way Nixon mentioned Watergate in 1974?

Third, will Trump have illegal immigrants in the audience deported during the speech?

The illegal aliens will be sitting in seats that in previous years were meant for brave military heroes, law-abiding taxpayers and America's best and brightest.

The sad truth is that Democrats would rather align themselves with foreign invaders who violated our national sovereignty, thumbed their nose at the rule of law, and pillaged and plundered taxpayer-funded resources.

And now, Pelosi has decided to turn the U.S. Capitol into a sanctuary - a safe haven - for people who are living in our nation illegally.

In response, President Trump should fill the remainder of the House gallery with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

Imagine the message he could send to the world if he directed ICE agents to arrest every illegal alien in the House chamber - live on national television.

And fourth, in his response, will Joe Kennedy have a Brahmin brogue. He normally doesn't, but he would do much better to adopt one.

Melania is there, doing her duty and putting on a brave face. Trump better say something really good about her.

Didn't she admit it was true recently?

So far, it's been 100% red meat for the base. That's unusual for a State of the Union address.

If he doesn't wrap up soon, he'll break Bill Clinton's record for longest State of the Union.

This may be the first State of the Union since Lyndon Johnson when the President did not say something nice about the First Lady.

No, she admitted it never happened even more recently.

It was a little long winded, a lot of fluff, most of the politics were oriented around immigration and the economy. Democrats best target IMO would be to press on the nuclear arms bullshit, though most of that was more fluff to look tough on the Russians. There was a WTF? silence moment after something he said, don't recall what it was he said though.

But yea, the highlight of the show was the Bittercrats and Nancy Pelosi looks fucking horrible.

The gifs are already coming out...lol

I never watch the state of the union speeches. Giant waste of time watching an absurdly partisan clap/no-clap fest. It's really kind of an embarrassment that they've become so uncivilized.

Trump came close to setting a time record.

Washington (CNN) President Donald Trump's first State of the Union address clocked in at a whopping 1 hour and 20 minutes -- making it the third-longest State of the Union in history.

The award for the longest address goes to President Bill Clinton's final State of the Union in 2000, which was just 9 minutes longer than Trump's. Clinton spoke for 1 hour and 29 minutes.

More... (https://www.cnn.com/2018/01/31/politics/longest-state-of-the-union/index.html)

The Constitution requires the President to "from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union." There is nothing in the Constitution that requires the State of the Union report to be given orally. Some presidents have delivered their report in writing. Next year, Trump should do it in tweets.

Just like they did with the inauguration, the lamestream media is already trying to claim that fewer people watched Trump's first State of the Union than Obama's first. Sad.
