Tax reform is the next big thing in Congress, right after they pass a budget and raise the debt ceiling. Unfortunately, as Mitch McConnell explains below, Democrats are not on board with the kind of tax reform that Republicans want. To avoid dealing with Democrats, the Senate will use the foolproof method of "reconciliation," just like they did with Trumpcare.

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday reaffirmed the GOP’s long-standing intention to shield any tax overhaul from a likely Democratic filibuster by using the procedural protections of budget reconciliation.

In explaining his decision to reporters, the Kentucky Republican cited a Tuesday letter from 45 Democratic senators urging Republicans not to use reconciliation and vowing to oppose a tax plan that adds to the deficit or cuts the annual bill of the richest 1 percent of taxpayers.

“We will need to use reconciliation” for taxes in the wake of Democrats’ statement that they are “not interested in addressing” Republican priorities, McConnell said.

We'll see about that. Republicans are the do-nothing party. They cried about the ACA for 7 years, finally got both Senate and House, and still haven't gotten anything done. You would think they would have had a plan ready to go with the way they were bawling for so long. Nope. Nothing. I don't see them getting taxes done either.
