The libtards that are part of this tranny taco musical quake shake have 180 days to gather signatures.
OMG please get this on the ballot and passed. Democrats will never see a President in the WH again.

I imagine the majority of Californians would vote against leaving, and even if they did, it wouldn't be permitted. The same idiot groups exist in many states. Texas was another big one under Obama.

That's a fair point, but California is resoundingly Liberal.
D H. Clinton 61.6% 7,362,490
R D. Trump 32.8% 3,916,209
Election results in 2016. The county I live in (almost as large as Los Angeles county), ALWAYS votes red, voted 70%+ (correction, 62.2%) for HRC in last year's election.
By no stretch of the imagination am I a fan of HRC. But downplaying how much CA dislikes Trump isn't likely accurate. Like I said though, there is absolutely no way CA votes to secede, or that the US would allow it.

My opinion, the only state I think that should ever be allowed to secede is Hawaii. The rest of them were either the foundation of the country or became states because the land they were on was owned by the Federal government at one point. I would include Texas, but I feel the defeat during the Civil War kinda makes their state property of the US now.

Yeah I agree. Plus, have you researched how we took over Hawaii? Some shady shit there. They've had an independence movement for years.

I wouldn't mind seeing CA use this as leverage to negotiate getting a 1:1 exchange on their federal tax dollars. Quit subsiding those broke ads red states who denigrate them for being coastal elitists and "Hollywood"

California was the "welfare state" about 20-30 years ago, it's about time California starts paying some of that money back.

Federal government has subsidized the south essentially since the civil war, calling California a welfare stat because they had a decade or two of issues when the deep south has had more then 100 years of it is fairly ridiculous. I am a big fan of the idea of all non-federally used tax dollars remaining in state, your state mismanages the shit out of itself why the hell should the rest of us support you, Its one thing to help after natural disasters its another to finance incompetence.

The point of taxes is to reallocate funds to where they are needed. I have no problem with that money going to people who need it- whether or not they share my political ideologies.
CalExit, btw, is a Russian backed, fake movement designed to create more political disruption. The guy who started it even moved to Russia last year after the funding sources were revealed.

Really? You mean after the north destroyed almost the entire south's economy they then needed help after the war? Shocker!
calling California a welfare stat because they had a decade or two of issues
It was more than a decade or two, but okay. You're acting like California has always had Hollywood, vast amounts of farming, Silicon Valley, tourists, and a large population. They weren't even one of the largest states in the early 1900's. Shit, Alabama was bigger than them.

Well good news then! According to a more accurate report (http://osc.state.ny.us/reports/budget/2015/fed_budget_fy2013.pdf) (not that shitty one that shows all "blue" states are subsidizing all "red" states), it turns out California gets about 99 cents for every 100 cents they pay in federal taxes.
The state gets like 400 billion dollars in federal tax dollars via Medicare, Medicaid, social security payments, military pay, and etc etc.

More than anything I like reading the twitter comments, this one made me laugh
I still believe in Calexit/Westexit and am pleased that it will have the opportunity to go forward untainted by this goon.
#calexit doesn't work without #westexit because #calexit would have no water.
California is a giant environmental disaster.

Yeah, I am 100% sure that the western states would love to cut off the faucet to California and keep their water. Then there is the power situation, large growing population, shrinking generation and transmission capacity, got to love the green movement making sure they can't produce enough power to survive but hey, the state is fake clean. Also, most of the western states would love to ship all the commiefornians back home to commiefornia so they quit moving there and shitting up the area. A lot of people west of the Mississippi are not happy with California and if Mulholland wasn't clever at stealing water then California as we know it would not exist. Also, the crybabies keep wanting to take more water from the west instead of maybe building desalinization plants or something like Australia. But it's not all bad, they have weed, a massive entitled and lazy population and businesses are moving out of the state right and left. They do have fish ladders though so there is that.

The point of taxes was to have a functioning government and for military. It has grown to be so much more than that.

I read that once it was found out the head of the organization was connected to Russia he stepped down and they just started a new organization for the movement. You realize that ever if it is Russian backed that the people signing the petition more than likely aren't...right?

The people from that Russia guy's organization just formed a new one without Russian involvement (supposedly, who knows). Do you understand what that means? It means that people, in California, actually want this. You don't just get to call something fake news once any hint of Russia is involved. They are already starting to collect signatures on the new initiative.

JUST BECAUSE SOMETHING INVOLVES RUSSIA DOESN'T MEAN IT IS FAKE NEWS!
Fuck, there is a political party just for this exact thing.

I understand that I even stated that the original releases from the organization claimed they have supporters in the thousands.
Long story short I agree, it's a thing but there will be no serious movement. This country has always had fringe political parties and agendas, and even after Obama's Reelection where you had State Senators talking about "Texit" the Republican governor walked back that talk almost immediately.
This is not a serious consideration the US would be weakened far too much to ever allow it. It's almost 14% of the economy

Truth. I mean, even the basics like having to import obscene amounts of water from a foreign country in order to not die would be a good starter reason. I don't think California has a lot of desalination plants either, though admittedly I haven't looked any numbers up. I thought historically though most of those were on the East Coast.
That and of course the fact that while California is a huge economy, that largely is the case because it's part of the US, not in spite of it.

Not to mention illegal immigration. I know California loves to pretend they love illegal immigrants pouring into their state, just wait until they become their own independent nation responsible for securing their own borders. People at the southern border can decide "Gee, enter the US with tough immigration laws and a president ramping up security, or go to the nation which loves low skilled, low education illegals crossing over?"

And of course the idea that a lot of the companies based in California might you know...leave...if it was in a foreign country. Such as Intuit, who's responsible for pretty huge chunk of America's tax documents at this point. I doubt the IRS would keep supporting it if it was based in a foreign country. Having companies like Apple headquartered in a country other than their largest customer base's would probably have some serious tax and import/export ramifications too.
California's secession, if there was one, would have to come with the understanding that their entire economy is about to come crashing down for them to accomplish it, and things in the US would have to be a hell of a lot worse for them to realistically consider that an option.
