Syria claims to have shot down 13 Tomahawks.

It's old 1970's missile tech, not really stealthy and not fast so it's quite possible that they did shoot down several of them. They are not hard to deal with as long as you can detect them, but flying low using ground hugging flight does make that difficult. I would rather have missiles shot down than bombers or attack aircraft. I don't think it's a good idea over all though and I would prefer walking away from all of it.

Russia has claimed that it told the U.S. where in Syria it couldn’t bomb ahead of last week’s airstrikes on the country. Better to use up old munitions in some kind of show of force or display than to have to dismantle them as their "use by" date comes up. And yes, things like missiles and so on have an expiration date and shelf life, unlike most bombs and bullets.
