Syria claims to have shot down 13 Tomahawks.
It's old 1970's missile tech, not really stealthy and not fast so it's quite possible that they did shoot down several of them. They are not hard to deal with as long as you can detect them, but flying low using ground hugging flight does make that difficult. I would rather have missiles shot down than bombers or attack aircraft. I don't think it's a good idea over all though and I would prefer walking away from all of it.

Well, it depends which ones they used. We have upgraded ones from the 2010s that go about Mach 3. I'd imagine they'd want to use up the older inventory though.

I swear I heard Mattis say they went through the normal deconfliction process. In Syria that means notifying Russia in advance.

Trump did.
I mean- he signposted at least the possibility pretty heavily a few days ago with his bomb tweet. And Syria moved a lot of its air forces to Russian areas as a result.
So that would be accurate.

I posted that right as they said it during the Pentagon Press Conference.
The normal deconfliction process is something they do all the time for air space and isn't out of the ordinary. It doesn't necessarily indicate a strike. They said this more than once during the conference.

There would have to be a completely new missile, there is no way that the original airframe would make mach speed and survive for any time. And absolutly, we would want to use all the old stuff laying around long before using the new goodies.

They said it wasn't out of the ordinary, but Russia isn't stupid. They knew this could be coming- which is why the Syrian government started moving its aircraft into Russian areas. When the Pentagon calls at 4am Syrian time and says "Clear the airspace, we're coming through" 2 days after Trump threatens to bomb them- they know what's going on.

Is Russia really going to retaliate or is that just BS?
Likely as not, they will try something. Also likely, this whole thing is arranged, Syria had assets moved, we blew up useless places and asphalt and Putin looks good for standing up to the US, Trump looks good for taking a hard stance on Russia, the rest of the world gets to salivate at how evil the big bullies are and how much of a humanitarian tragedy it is despite the many such things over the past decade that they didn't lift a finger to address, defense contractors sell a few missiles and so on to the US and Russia, "rebels" in Syria keep killing each other and the government troops and the world will keep turning.

Looks like Trump is getting ready to strike Syria very soon. A week on the job, and Bolton is now advising us to use missiles.
And Trump, I'm sure, isn't desperately looking to A) Change the headlines B) Try to shake the Russia suspicion off of him and C) Try to get his ratings up because he remembers when he did this a year ago, they went up.
Someone has to get him out of here before he lands us in a war.
Sounds like you are hoping someone assassinates him.
You're a real piece of work.

Infowars founder Alex Jones ripped into President Trump on Friday night after the president authorized military airstrikes in Syria, saying the decision made him "sick."
“If he had been a piece of crap from the beginning, it wouldn’t be so bad,” a visibly emotional Jones said of Trump. “We’ve made so many sacrifices and now he’s crapping all over us. It makes me sick."
Jones said the decision to strike Syria was especially painful because Trump had been “doing so good.”
“Trump’s now a fraud,” Jones later said. “Done.”
"F--- Trump," he vented Friday.

A subset of the trumpanzee is upset.
“We lost. War machine bombs syria. (https://www.politico.com/story/2018/04/13/trump-supporters-syria-strikes-523061) No evidence Assad did it. Sad warmongers hijacking our nation,” tweeted conservative author and radio host Michael Savage. Savage also posted a video discussing the missile strikes, tearing into Trump’s decision.
There was a clear sense of disappointment among a certain strand of Trump supporter as the president announced a “precision strike” against the regime of Bashar Assad on Friday in response to a suspected chemical weapons attack last week.
The anguish came from supporters who latched on to Trump’s “America first” promise during the campaign. They argued that Trump’s decision undermined his promise to disentangle the U.S. from global conflicts, saying it reeked of the same old, same old.

So we're saying Trump is going to throw people back into the arms of people like Hitler?
I can't wait until it's rightfully upheld in favor of the Trump Administration so the riots and tears can start up again. We sent these people back to Syria to die, and you cheered it on.
The question is how did it work out for us (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%89vian_Conference) the last time we went down this path.
The answer is that children were murdered because we did not act then.
And children will be murdered because we have not acted now.You were warned, and you didn't care.

We can save them.
If, and only if, you and people like you can overcome your fear. But we know you won't. And in thirty years when you've convinced yourself you would have accepted Syrian refugees just like you would have accepted Jewish refugees in WW2, you'll be smug and sarcastic when the next refugees we turn away get slaughtered too.
Is there a source that shows the percentage of Syrians that weren't allowed to stay in United States that were gassed in the attacks along with the number of those that were females, and also that died horrifically in front of their fathers?

Yes, we should have just emptied the country of all its citizens and accepted them here so he had no one to rule over. That would have solved the problem for sure!
I was going to make a similar point but then it dawned on me I was replying to Latrin.

This point as well.

Latrin supports chemical weapons used against civilians.

Latrin supports rape because I'm sure there's been at least one instance, probably thousands, of someone planning to go rape someone but then they hit some badass weed and were like nah man I'm just gonna stay in.
Latrin wanted for those girls to instead be raped.

Universal surveillance would have the same effect, therefor universal surveillance is the cure for the ongoing weed epidemic in this country.

Latrin only wants universal surveillance so he can fap to watching people who don't care if they get caught rape people.

We’ve been telling Latrin to get help for several years now. And he said no no no.
Perhaps you could speak with him, retard to retard.

Israeli officials cited in a Ynetnews report characterized the missile strike on Friday by the US, the UK, and France on suspected chemical weapons facilities in Syria as a failure.
Multiple Israeli government and military sources suggested the strike was not effective in hurting Syria's ability to conduct chemical attacks.
These officials also criticized President Donald Trump's talking about the strike beforehand.
The latest strike most likely didn't change anything on the battlefield in Syria, and it's hard to know how much of the chemical weapons stockpile it hit.
"If President Trump had ordered the strike only to show that the US responded to [Syrian President Bashar] Assad's use of chemical weapons, then that goal has been achieved," Israel's Ynetnews quoted a senior defense official as saying. "But if there was another objective — such as paralyzing the ability to launch chemical weapons or deterring Assad from using it again — it's doubtful any of these objectives have been met."
An intelligence official who talked to Ynetnews wasn't as forgiving.
"The statement of 'Mission Accomplished' and (the assertion) that Assad's ability to use chemical weapons has been fatally hit has no basis," the official said, most likely referring to a recent tweet from President Donald Trump.
But we already knew this didn't we?

Russia has claimed that it told the U.S. where in Syria it couldn’t bomb ahead of last week’s airstrikes on the country. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said there was contact between the Kremlin and Washington before last weekend’s strikes by France, the U.K., and the U.S. and that the strikes avoided the “red lines” set out by Russia. Lavrov said: “There were military leadership contacts, between generals, between our representatives and the coalition leadership. They were informed about where our red lines are, including red lines on the ground, geographically. And the results show that they did not cross these red lines.” Around 105 missiles were launched in retaliation for a suspected chemical attack in the Syrian city of Douma on April 7 that killed more than 70 people.
I do not doubt it. What a cool way to waste millions of dollars. Trumps a big old pussy

Better to use up old munitions in some kind of show of force or display than to have to dismantle them as their "use by" date comes up. And yes, things like missiles and so on have an expiration date and shelf life, unlike most bombs and bullets.
