It's a warning to other Republicans. Fail to defend Trump, and Trump will turn his supporters against you.

Trump is a sociopath and a narcissist. There's no part of him that's trying to win the campaign right now- he knows he can't. He's just getting even with everyone he perceives has slighted him.

GOP go 'splode.

He's been threatening Ryan from the beginning. Maybe Ryan and Clinton can share a cell in his fantasy gulag.

Yeah it's a Breibart thing. Steve Bannon hates Ryan frankly as much as liberals do.

Bannon is basically using Trump to fuel the GOP civil war he's always wanted. Trump, for his part, feels like the RNC tried to humiliate him and has decided to pay them back by helping to splinter it (and I imagine he's ultimately looking to build his own rival party).

Again, this is a dangerously narcissistic man. I mean that in the literal personality disorder sense.

This is a good description of people with the disorder from the Mayo Clinic (http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/narcissistic-personality-disorder/basics/symptoms/con-20025568)

Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for admiration and a lack of empathy for others. But behind this mask of ultraconfidence lies a fragile self-esteem that's vulnerable to the slightest criticism

If you have narcissistic personality disorder, you may come across as conceited, boastful or pretentious. You often monopolize conversations. You may belittle or look down on people you perceive as inferior. You may feel a sense of entitlement — and when you don't receive special treatment, you may become impatient or angry. You may insist on having "the best" of everything — for instance, the best car, athletic club or medical care.

At the same time, you have trouble handling anything that may be perceived as criticism. You may have secret feelings of insecurity, shame, vulnerability and humiliation. To feel better, you may react with rage or contempt and try to belittle the other person to make yourself appear superior. Or you may feel depressed and moody because you fall short of perfection.

And another one about Narcissistic Leadership:

Narcissistic leadership is a leadership style in which the leader is only interested in him/herself. Their priority is themselves - at the expense of their people/group members. This leader exhibits the characteristics of a narcissist: arrogance, dominance and hostility. It is a sufficiently common leadership style that it has acquired its own name.[1] Narcissism is most often described as unhealthy and destructive. It has been described: "narcissistic leadership (preferably destructive) is driven by unyielding arrogance, self-absorption, and a personal egotistic need for power and admiration."[2]

We're literally watching the behavior patterns of a text book narcissist play out on a national stage.

Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway threw down the gauntlet on teevee this morning. Republican leaders like Ryan need to make a decision and stop waffling. It will be today's big news story.

Donald Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway today denounced some top Republican leaders for being "very wishy-washy" in their support of the GOP presidential nominee, after House Speaker Paul Ryan said he will no longer defend or campaign for Trump.

“We want the support of anybody who’s going to publicly endorse us. But enough of the pussyfooting around in terms of, you know, do you support us or do you not support us," Conway said today on ABC News’ "Good Morning America." "Some of these leaders have been very wishy-washy.”
