The Ideal Conceal pistol, which is slated to go on sale for $395 later this year, allows its owner to “carry with confidence, conceal in style,” the Minnesota startup’s website reads. The product could be seen on the site with an unfolding handle revealing a trigger and muzzles for the bullets where earphones would usually plug in.

Ideal Conceal CEO Kirk Kjellberg told the Daily News the lightweight invention aids gun owners hoping to avoid a Second Amendment debate.

"Part of what this allows people to do is carry a weapon without engaging in that conversation," Kjellberg said. "This way, you don't have to have a .38 or .44 strapped to your waist, you can carry it in your front pocket."

The invention is already causing controversy. Bill Johnson, the executive director of the National Association of Police Organizations, told CNN Money the invention could make police officers’ jobs more difficult.

“In general, the concept of any kind of weapon that's disguised, so that it's not apparent that it's a weapon, would be cause for concern,” Johnson said.

Instead of making a gun shaped like a phone, they should just make an app for a smart phone that lets it shoot bullets or take pictures, whichever you prefer.

Not really sure what the big deal is. If you properly carry concealed no one knows you have a firearm so how is this any different?

You can't see the difference between something that's easy to see is a firearm and something that's cleverly disguised as an every day object carried by most everyone? I bet cops feel differently.

As someone who often pulls a phone out of his pocket, I would like this distinction to remain unblurred.

Reach fast for unknown object, get shot. Reach slow for gun, point at cops, get shot. Reach slow for phone, shoot cops.
