View Full Version : Violence to Come?

The United States is headed toward a confrontation, the likes of which it has not seen since 1968, between leftist activists, who believe in physical disruption as a means of drawing attention to injustice, and a candidate eager to forcibly put down that disruption in order to make himself look tough.
More... (http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/03/the-violence-to-come/471924/)
The article says that today's activists are similar to activists in the 1960s. It also says that the way Trump handles those activists is similar to the way presidential candidate George Wallace handled activists in 1968. Wallace never become his party's nominee. Trump will likely be the nominee, which means he will have lots more rallies and his status as a nominee will make the stakes higher.

Remember the time I posted that there would be a wave of violence at Trump rallies?

Remember that time I posted that you'd post on the forums again about some political thing?

I thought that was a gameboy game at first.

Honestly... Nintendo could use "Self Hypnosis: The Game" at this point.

Kina recommends the Headspace app for meditation. To my knowledge she has never claimed that it will engender ESP though.

You know what's funny? The majority of the violence is caused by those on the left. You don't see tea party folks going to the the Bern's meetings and violently protesting (of course, you do see BLM folks drowning out the Bern and hijacking his rallies, too), but you do see it at Trumps rallies with BLM and other winners violently protesting. Or you can take the wonderful left wing professor who called for 'some muscle' to remove a student journalist who was there peacefully recording.
Almost makes you think that Trump is not the problem...
Of coiurse, I still think the Donald is a whack job and will not be voting for him, even if he runs against Lenin's spiritual successor.

Well... what beckoned in the firebrands was Trump supporters beating the crap out of lone hecklers... but in general, you're right. Though Trump tried to spur his followers into doing just that on Twitter.
That now fired professor went after a liberal student reporter, so ehh.

There are very misguided people on the right and the left and everywhere in between on the political spectrum, I don't think anyone would argue with that. It does not matter where the person may stand politically, I can't think of a single instance where violence has engenders greater connection or understanding between people.

Most of the misguidance is on the Right. They are electing an egomaniac that acts more like Adolf Hitler than an American Presidential candidate. At least on the Left, we are deciding between a very accomplished, liberal woman and a brave Progressive. They have substantive debates on policy and opinions where the Republicans bicker and fight over nonsense.
The number of misguided people on the Right far outweighs the few on the Left.

ROFL That is funny. You are deciding between a criminal Fascist elitist and a washed out Socialist wannabe.

As opposed to nearly ALL the people on the left who still think Socialism can work on a large scale without a resource to exploit and without oppressing the population at gunpoint? So really who does have the most misguided people?

Exhibit A: Misguided.
As opposed to nearly ALL the people on the left who still think Socialism can work on a large scale without a resource to exploit and without oppressing the population at gunpoint? So really who does have the most misguided people?
Sometimes the people need to be told what is good for them. Socialism is good for everyone as opposed to capitalism which is only good for the top 1%. Of course some greedy individuals will not like it and they might have to be "oppressed at gunpoint" for the greater good. The end always justifies the means.

Or, you mean, maybe this prediction:
You know what's funny? The majority of the violence is caused by those on the left. Still not voting for the Donald, but I am going to laugh at the contested DNC (complete with requisite riots, no doubt), when many original predictions were that the RNC would be contested and violently protested.
