Wouldn't the simpler solution have been to allow pocket mages to keep doing enchants with potions and tempers, but allow mages who actually hunt regularly to gain (enchanting essence) via combat .. so have two options to enchant depending on your hunting style?

The simpler solution would be to leave the old system, skip this entire redesign thing, and tweak tempering with the old system to where you don't have to throw your item into a locker for months at a time.

Literally just allowing weapons and armor to be used while tempering would have addressed 99% of enchant's problems without requiring this massive redesign.

Then they could have worked on real shit, like fixing the spells that have been useless since the 90s.

Don't forget the slightly mentioned but lost in the shuffle - they hugely nerfed enchanting difficult for a lot of scripted items. Looks like voln, ethereal string, nervestaff, etc, all those scripts which used to be "easy" are now "requiring a miracle".
