I know that you all want to pretend like these things aren't a big deal. They're a HUGE deal. They are, simply put, unprecedented in the over two centuries that we've been a country.
So...no. He doesn't get credit for what his underlings have done, especially since a lot of it was done despite Trump, not because of him.
I'm not attempting to argue with you, this is my explaining my view point and thinking (as the admittedly politically unaware) person that I am. I'm trying to understand your view point by having it challenge mine. It is, it's making me think but all I can loop back to is people that are politically unaware (more so than I) are going to see it as an administration victory and therefor a Trump victory.
