The judge who refused to release grand jury transcripts today used unusually strong language to question the government's motive for requesting the release..
A member of the public, appreciating that the Maxwell grand jury materials do not contribute anything to public knowledge, might conclude that the Government’s motion for their unsealing was aimed not at “transparency” but at diversion—aimed not at full disclosure but at the illusion of such.

The grand jury transcripts would include only information necessary to indict Maxwell. Grand jury transcripts cannot be released unless specific criteria are met. One criterion is if the transcripts are of great public concern and contain information not already publicly known. The government told the judge that the information in the transcripts is already public, ensuring that the request to release the transcripts would be denied. It was a setup. If you want to know who else was involved with Epstein, then you need the records that Bondi has.
Why would the judge deny releasing the transcripts if the information is already released to the public? Do we the public have the grand jury transcripts? Your math ain’t mathing…
The House overnight committee in bipartisan action subpoenaed several prominent Democrats including Bill Clinton, Merrick Garland, James Comey, and more. Perhaps we will learn more there if they don’t all please the 5th. They will.
Because that's exactly what the law forbids. Grand jury transcripts can be released only when absolutely necessary.
No. The court could not release the transcripts because the DOJ told the court that the info in the transcripts is already public. It wasn't necessary to release the transcripts.
The grand jury transcripts are a distraction. Don't get distracted.
So you admit the transcripts are not public. Sure we may have some information from the trial, but the grand jury transcripts likely contain more information which is why the DOJ is requesting it. It is of great public concern and the transcript has not yet been made public.
You are only claiming this is a distraction because it’s Trump’s DOJ asking for the info, and an Obama appointed judge denied the motion. Obviously the judge is hiding something and/or has concern over protecting some witnesses. Why are you so quick to dismiss new information we don’t have today?
