Anecdotal evidence is anecdotal. But let's apply it to the whole country anyway, right?

Considering that, at least in the vast majority of normal families, emphasis on normal, grandparents would typically be more than happy to do this, for free even, because 99.9999% of grandparents love their grandchildren, which is 90094238423x more than some random daycare worker who's just collecting a paycheck does, and free is 100% less than the cost of daycare. Any daycare. Every daycare.

Because that's how normal families in general tend to operate, because families tend to love and care about their family members.

But sure, let's make the exception the rule, like in your case, and base everything around that and have the government raise them instead.

I didn't try to change anything. Grandparents watching their grandchildren for free costs 100% less than any and every daycare in existence. But you already knew that, you just can't stop being mealy mouthed.

Sorry if your wife's mom is a fucking retard, but that doesn't give you any grounds to decide that that's the rule instead of the exception.

God, are you that stupid? Grandparents watching kids, isn’t a POLICY to lower the price of daycare. You’re offsetting what you spend, daycare stays the same price.

The question was about policy to lower the price of daycare
You really think the answer to that is grandparents?! lol? Yes please make that a policy.

Please make it a government policy that grandparents have to watch their grandkids while their parents at work. Who the fuck cares, if they are still working themselves, don’t want to, have their own lives, don’t want to move, etc etc. People won’t have to pay for daycare, it’s FREE!!

My mom watches my child, spends a weekend with her every few months, or when my wife and I have something to celebrate like an anniversary.

My mom, taking care of my son while I’m at work, is not her responsibility, nor would I ever ask her to do that. I’m not Gen Z, where I pass my responsibilities onto others.

Great policy… this dude is an idiot.
We had one of the local teens watch us during the summer. She literally just watched TV with us, made mac-n-cheese and made sure we weren't setting shit on fire. What qualifications are you looking for out of a babysitter?

What are you even talking about? Vance said a 6 year college degree is required to work at a daycare, which isn’t even true.

Since when is it the Fed's job to set daycare policy?

    Sounds retarded and gay.

What do you think is the solution to tackle the rising cost of daycare?

I'm sure there are daycare companies that require that if they have a certain amount of children.

I wouldn't know, we never used a daycare, I personally believe daycare is a dereliction of parental duties.

And so is passing those responsibilities onto your mother and father to watch your kid.

    https://www.ziprecruiter.com/e/What-...k-at-a-Daycare

What Qualifications Do You Need to Work at a Daycare?

"The qualifications needed to get a job in daycare vary depending on the type of job you are seeking and the state in which you live. If you want to get a job in a daycare facility or nursery, you need a high school diploma at a minimum. If you want to work in a daycare that provides preschool education, your employers may require that you have training or formal education in early childhood development. In nearly all positions working with children, there are certain certifications you should obtain, including first aid, CPR, and fire safety. There may also be training required for child abuse detection and prevention."

If I had to guess, the highlighted part is probably what he was referring to.

Gone are the days of letting neighborhood kids looking after other neighborhood kids.

Of course, the term "latch-key" kid is how I grew up. Starting at about 10 I looked after myself until my mother got home.

Somehow, humans have survived tens-of-thousands of years without "daycare"... yet somehow we've become so weak as a species, and designed our societies in such a way... taking care of children is somehow more "difficult" than in the past.

    Their grandkid?

Parenting doesn't end when your children turn 18. It's your family, wtf is wrong with you?
