The Chinese government hasn’t exactly been transparent with the world or allowed for independent audits since the very start of the outbreak, but the two prevailing theories which neither have been fully proven are:

1) Infected bats were directly sold in a meat market and/or improper food handling allowed other meats to come in contact with infected bats (the Chinese savages were eating bats & guano) & the virus naturally found a way to become transmissible to humans (just like it happened with SARS).

2) Researchers in the Wuhan lab fucked up big time & Chinese QC standards remain notoriously bad in everything they touch. A human transmissible virus leaked out of the lab and into the public.

I say it really doesn’t matter because in either case the result is the same.
