This is such an odd argument that Democrats make.

Let's pretend for a single second that Republicans really don't care about children once they're born (it's an absolutely dumb ass argument to make, but let's say it's true). So?

I think people should have the right to smoke cigarettes and consume 20,000 calories a day, doesn't mean I should be financially responsible for their healthcare costs.

Be careful with this, there's logic involved:

I think your last sentence is very telling.

First, the irony of you implying that having to kick in a few dollars every year to support other people is an unreasonably onerous expectation, while also expecting women to go through 9 months of pregnancy (and the financial, psychological, and physical stress in that) against their will is not lost on me.

Second, "I care about children, but I'm not interested in having to contribute to their wellbeing in any way" isn't exactly the strongest use of the word "care" that I've encountered.

In this instance, "care" would refer to having at least the same level of passion for the well being of actual children and their mothers as one has for the fate of a fetus. For instance, refusing to vote for candidates who run on the idea of eliminating welfare/SNAP benefits (which almost entirely go to mothers and children), defunding public school systems, and actively blocking the creation of government-subsidized child care.

So my only options are either being in favor of outlawing smoking/overeating or thinking people should have the freedom to do either but I have to pay for their increased healthcare costs?

    You’re an odd duck.

Again, "take care of my kids or I'll murder them" is not an argument.

What do guns have to do with women murdering their offspring?

Even George Carlin probably didn’t think Democrats would reach the point where they pushed for and implemented legalizing abortion at 9 months.

It is nobodies responsibility to raise other peoples children. You want to play adult games then you must take responsibility for adult outcomes.

Bearing children is something that a woman's body is designed for. Any other argument is anti-science.

Y'all know that anti-choice terrorists have murdered nearly a dozen people since 1993 right? So either side you're on, you've debatably got blood on your hands.

And this is the single topic that's actually caused me to get emotional on here. It was because early last year Mrs. Flap had a miscarriage. Was it mine or the boyfriend's? We don't know, we'd find out when it popped out

It was somewhere between 2 and 3 months along. We hadn't bought a crib or anything, but we were all pretty excited about it. And devastated when the miscarriage happened. While in my head that fetus was our future son or daughter, that doesn't make it a person. There was a long way to go before it was a person.

I don't think I could ever go through with her having an abortion, though. If she wanted to, I'd try to talk her out of it, but ultimately it's her body that the potential-person would be growing in. I think the rights of an already-alive person should be held above the rights of a thing that has the potential to become a person.

Nearly 30 million humans have been murdered by the pro-death segregationists in that same time.

Why is it emotional if it's not a human being?
