Pompeo on behalf of Trump agreed that American forces would flee the country, and in turn the Taliban would not shoot our troops. That is basically it. If you're arguing that Biden failed to remove all American troops by 5/1, then you're completely ignorant of the amount of logistics it takes to decamp thousands of troops and tens of thousands of support personnel between 01/20/2021 and 5/1/2021 -- which Trump didn't even start. If Biden /HAD/ literally removed all American troops and civilians by 5/1, then Afghanistan would be in far worse shape.
Trump set up Afghanistan's failure by making a bogus agreement, failing to live up to it or even begin the groundwork for honoring it and left the pieces of the country for Biden to fix. Congratulations, you're almost a hypocritical as Dreaven!

Why shouldn't the US military "pick up the slack" for the Afghan army in securing the airport? In case you missed it the entire Afghan government collapsed thanks to Biden's incompetence. The members of Afghan's army have no government to report to and will most likely be executed once the Taliban get their hands on them...so...what exactly do they owe the US and why should they be protecting the airport?

Any fault of the Afghanistan government's failure to lead is it's fault. Any failure on part of the Afghanistan military due to poor leadership from it's parent government, is also the Afghanistan governments fault. Tens of billions of dollars in wages and supplies stolen by Afghanistan commanders is again, the fault of the Afghanistan military AND their parent government.
Absolutely /none/ of this is the responsibility of the American government to insure, secure, guarantee or promise. You're doing your level best to praise the warlords and despots who fled the country with American treasure all to try and paint Biden in a bad light and that is the worst kind of political gaslighting. The Afghan government was going to fall the second the USA left no matter what. Whether we left last week or a year from now, no matter what it wasn't going to be pretty for the Afghan government. Seems like they, as a whole, didn't want what we were selling.
