From what I understand they weren't really "allowed" in the sense that they properly filled out paperwork to get permits, gave the police time to close down the road, and all of that good shit. More like they showed up, took over the road, the police were like "Well shit, guess we better close the road down now!"

There was even talk that the police are trying to cover their ass by saying he had to go the wrong way because they properly closed down the road but that they didn't close down the road until afterwards.

But I don't know, I haven't looked too much into this story because it's all kinds of dumb. A black guy running over a white Black Lives Matter protester is suddenly turned into a luxury car hits a Black Lives Matter protester.

NYT ran this story:

A 30-year-old man who believed the coronavirus was a hoax and attended a “Covid party” died after being infected with the virus, according to the chief medical officer at a Texas hospital.

The official, Dr. Jane Appleby of Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, said the man died after deliberately attending a gathering with an infected person to test whether the coronavirus was real.

In her statements to news organizations, Dr. Appleby said the man had told his nurse that he attended a Covid party. Just before he died, she said the patient told his nurse: “I think I made a mistake. I thought this was a hoax, but it’s not.”

If this all sounds like bullshit and plays into the left's narrative a bit too perfectly that's because apparently it is. NYT just straight up writing "news" stories that read like a forward you get from grandma on Facebook.

Because yeah, I'm sure a dying man's last words would be "I think I made a mistake. I thought this was a hoax, but it's not." And oh yeah, he would say this to a nurse and not like be speaking to his family or anything as he lays there dying.
