5 days ago, the President of the United States of America retweeted a video of someone saying the only good Democrat is a dead Democrat.

Let that sink in for a moment. The supposed leader of the free world just said that if you belong to a different political party, the preference is that you no longer be alive.

And the truly horrifying thing is- we've gotten so used to his chaos and hate that it barely even registers. 4 years ago, that would have registered. And we'd understand that as an attack on fundamental American values.

But today, apparently it just gets him downgraded to a "decent" President.

For all of the bluster I have heard over the years from the conservatives on this board about fighting to keep Communism and Socialism out of America, it is absolutely astounding to watch those same people usher in the worst parts of Communism.

Teargassing peaceful protesters- that's what you can get away with in countries with authoritarians who aren't beholden to things like Freedom of Speech.

Doing mass purges of career employees who haven't demonstrated proper "loyalty" to the President? Guess where else that happens?

Firing oversight watchdogs and replacing them with political appointees who are helping to run the agencies they're supposed to be performing oversight for?

So watchdogs of Democracy- if you're okay with all of this, what exactly was it about Communism you were trying to protect us from?
