Since this crap started I have stopped going to NFL games and buying NFL merchandise (the same applies to MLB). It's admittedly difficult to determine how much folks like me have been affecting the bottom line as NFL attendance was slowly but steadily going down for a number of years, but the issue is certainly not helping them. I assume this was a major reason why the policy was changed.

I'll take your word for it, but I am hardly alone in not attending NFL and MLB games over this issue. If the issue went away, profits would go up. Money talks.
They make more far more money from TV deals then they do from attendance.
