4. No pre-existing coverage exclusion

This has been the big one for me. Insurance companies are all scumbags, this lets me shop for the least scumbaggy, as obviously I need to try the insurance out before I can find out which parts of it they lie about.

This isn't what I was told. I had 2 basal cells removed in November of last year and 3 different insurance companies told me that it would be less expensive if I waited until August 2015 to contact them for a quote.

See above. Insurance companies lie, a lot. That they can't deny us for pre-existing conditions makes it easier to shop around. As individuals that's our only weapon against them. If we had universal surveillance we could prosecute them for it. Alas, someday.

And like I said before, if insurance premiums were already oh so unaffordable before then how does them being even more expensive now make healthcare affordable?

A nominal increase is not necessarily a real increase. As ours is a fiat currency, a given amount of dollars is not the same value over time.

Is getting a chronic condition treated cheaper with insurance or without insurance? If you develop a serious illness, will it be cheaper to treat it if you have insurance or without insurance? In all cases, it is cheaper if you have insurance.
